Apologies for this not being about distilling, but doodlemaier's… - Home Distillation

Apologies for this not being about distilling, but. S account is suddenly listed as deleted. I rather liked the fellow (and met him in this community, hence the posting here), anyone know what happened to him? July 3rd, 2009 05:50 pm (UTC). I don't know all the details, but the gist of it is that he said something, uh, impolite on his blog, and came to the conclusion that his, uh, free habits of speech made keeping a blog, uh, problematic, and decided to stop blogging. Forbes Magazine rates my town, Oakland, in the Top Five Coolest Cities in the US. 1 was a tie between NY and Vegas. 3 went to Seattle (using a picture from the one sunny day they had last year). 4 was taken by Chicago. Six through ten went to Orlando, San Diego, LA, and DC. San Francisco didn't even rate. In your face, peninsulares! The state of my brain.:. What's in my ears.:. I'll have you ...

Mash questions - Home Distillation
http://homedistilling.livejournal.com/3364.html
In making beer, you collect the liquid from the mash (the wurt) and then boil it with the hops before cooling it and pitching the yeast. Partly this is to isomerize the hop resins to bitter the beer, but my understanding was that this also breaks down and precipitates the proteins in the wurt. Is there some reason that the "wurt" for "beer" meant for distilling isn't boiled? Would boiling it affect the finished distilled product? Fermenting on the mash:. Thanks in advance for your wisdom!
