Wednesday, November 14, 2007. On the Road for Miles. Those of you who know Elliot are aware that he doesn't like to sit still for long. Amazingly, he was a real trooper when it came to the 8 hour road trip to see his new little cousin, Miles. Miles George Wiley was born Thursday, November 8 in Birmingham, Alabama. Congratulations, George and Jenny! Miles got his long toes from his dad, Craig's brother, George. No longer dads-to-be. :). Elliot gave them a little practice with cleaning up drool and spit-up.

Friday, January 26, 2007. Where there are palm trees, there must be the ocean. At Grandpa's funeral, I had the opportunity to share a song (Sistine Chapel) I wrote about him and his sign language and how knowing that second language helped him recover from his stroke. He communicated with us even though heavily sedated and unable to speak. The first sign we saw was the one meaning "pain" and it reminded me of the segment of the Sistine Chapel pictured here. For Christmas this year, I had a little fun with some old jewelry boxes, painting and antiquing them to give to my three granddaughters. I started by taking them apart and painting with a base coat of chalk paint. Next, I applied some dark antiquing wax. I was surprised at how much it changed the color.
