When I saw the news day before yesterday about the murder-suicide, I thought, as I do whenever I read of something awful happening back in my old stomping grounds, "Oh, how terrible! I hope it was no one I know." When I heard later that it was a case of a mother killing her children, I knew it wasn't anyone I might know, because nobody I know would do something that horrible. And then did a quickie wipe and dashed for the phone to call my husband at work. The girls she murdered.

Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Religious Freedom and Baby Killing. Came across a story today in the Washington Post- a sad tale of a woman with a highly treatable form of leukemia refusing transfusions. And dying, taking her almost 8 months-gestation fetus with her. The reason? That's right- Jehovah's Witness. She was offered the opportunity to save this fetus via c-section, which would have made chemo possible for her. For pregnant women who follow this course of treatment, there is an 83% remission rate.
