The brewery started brewing on the 28th November 1998 in a converted garage at the Brewer's house in Grantham. While we would like to expand the capacity of the brewery, we have had to put our Plans on hold due to the current economic climate. Trade grew nicely so expansion and a move came in August 2001 from a two and a half barrel plant to a ten barrel plant, with a capacity of thirty barrels per week. Newby Wyke (H111) was an old 178 ft Hull steam trawler built for the West Dock Steam Fishing Company. Click here. To see our new article on the link between Newby Wyke and a daring North Sea balloon rescue. She was the last of the West Dock Wykes. All the ships were named after villages in the Bridlington and Scarborough area. Her funnel colour was black with a wide red band, our casks now bear similar markings. She was skippered by the Brewer's Grandfather and hence the name of the brewery.
