Carly Bodnar Studio: September 2010
http://carlybodnar.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 2, 2010. Little synaptic sparks of memory. I've had quite a surge of inspiration/impetus to paint lately, but of course, the nature of such things is that they ebb and flow, wax and wane. And now it has waned a bit (in part because I have new painting ideas, but must gesso more muslin to get started. puts the brakes on a bit). Charles Demuth: "My Egypt," 1927, oil on composition board, 35 3/4 x 30 inches. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). New York, NY, United States. View my complete profile.

We drew with charcoal and white chalk over tone paper. The purpose of today's work was to use the tone of the paper for the midtones and to incorporate that with the highlights and the shadows, shadow mass and light mass. So this is my monday morning class, this is what i was able to do in just under three hours of class. Posted by Gabriela Handal.

Musings and Art Things: Llouvset

Musings and Art Things. Listen to my art beat. Friday, May 29, 2015. So, the New York Academy of Art is doing a collaboration of sorts with (t)here Magazine. So, I'm participating in this shebang and it went similar to what happened for Conexión Drácula. Which is that residency that I did back in Panama. The people from the magazine had us choose in a lottery type of thing the theme that our work would be about, I got "consume". And I loved/love the shit out of that. Posted by Gabriela Handal.

artdria: Art All Day
http://artdria.blogspot.com/2014/12/art-all-day.html
Andrea m. williams - printmaking and art of all sorts. Saturday, December 20, 2014. Last month, I participated in an open studios event in Trenton called Art All Day, organized by ArtWorks. Trenton's community art center. Since I don't have a studio in Trenton, I was connected with Segal LaBate Real Estate, a local business which opened its doors to local artists for the day. We had at least 100 visitors, and I enjoyed meeting everyone and discussing my prints. ArtWorks. Hanging my prints the night before.

Musings and Art Things: October 2013
http://musingsandartthings.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Musings and Art Things. Listen to my art beat. Friday, October 11, 2013. I've been drawing self portraits on the train on the way back home, I draw what I see across from me in the reflection, since it's blurry and I have light above my head, this is what comes out and I seriously like what it looks like! The very first one was done with a bic pen and all the other ones are with a zebra pen. I currently find myself studying in the New York Academy of Art. Write to me: gabrielahandalarte@gmail.com. And I ...

Carly Bodnar Studio: October 2010
http://carlybodnar.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 11, 2010. New work in progress: 'Curl'. For now I'm calling it "Curl." (Now that I'm taking progress shots of my paintings, I have to give them some sort of working title so I can make a folder. damn you technology.) Finished dimensions will be about 44"x36" I think. Every now and then. In other news, I finally broke down and bought a roll of pre-primed canvas with my last Blick. Thursday, October 7, 2010. Maybe I shouldn't make anything of it. Maybe that's the point of all this, to s...

Carly Bodnar Studio: Experiments and Developments in Studio Furnishings
http://carlybodnar.blogspot.com/2011/07/experiments-and-developments-in-studio.html
Sunday, July 24, 2011. Experiments and Developments in Studio Furnishings. Note: If you're looking to read things about the mysical/revered/ineffable creative process, there won't be much in this post for you. If, on the other hand, you geek out over minuscule technical developments and love seeing how other people function on a practical level in their studios, then read on! The first big deal in the studio is that I replaced my many-years-old Liquin squeeze bottle solution. Backstory: I love Liquin.

Carly Bodnar Studio: Balloons.
http://carlybodnar.blogspot.com/2011/09/balloons.html
Sunday, September 4, 2011. I've recently developed a slight obsession with balloons. Basic party balloons from the dollar store. Quite possibly because of the image from two posts ago. With the arms wrapped around that big balloon-like thing. But also, maybe, because at our cramped corner dollar store the party section is right at the door, so all of a sudden balloons are literally on my radar. S early stuff (who, by the way, has been letting Art Blog Art Blog. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I'm an ...

Musings and Art Things: December 2013
http://musingsandartthings.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Musings and Art Things. Listen to my art beat. Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Yesterday, Dan Thompson, my teacher for Figure Drawing Intensive at The New York Academy of Art. There is a fagility to a drawing, if you don't seal it, it is easy for it to be damaged just by touching the paper; and even if you have sealed it, there is still risk of it being damaged. Somehow, the same cannot be said for drawing. I don't know why it struck me so much, maybe it's because I'd seen it so many times before, but this...
