Community Ecology and Phylogenetics – Page 2 – The interface between ecology, phylogeny and function
https://nickfountainjones.wordpress.com/page/2
Community Ecology and Phylogenetics. The interface between ecology, phylogeny and function. Mixed effect models and SEMs. I’m increasingly convinced of the value of structural equation models (SEMs)in ecology – particularly if random effects and phylogenetic relationships can be incorporated. That is exactly what has been achieved in the new R package ‘Piecewise SEM’ by Jonathan Lefcheck recently published. Methods in Ecology and Evolution. May 26, 2016. Journal club as a blog. May 23, 2016. May 16, 2016.
June 2015 – Community Ecology and Phylogenetics

Community Ecology and Phylogenetics. The interface between ecology, phylogeny and function. Parasites love caterpillar hairs (but predators don’t). Really interesting article I found via cool parasite ecology blog ( https:/ parasiteecology.wordpress.com/. It turns out that increased hair length may increase the caterpillars chance of being parasitized as the hairs provide better cover and protection for parasites. Mind blowing – I wonder how general this principle is? Here are the refs:. June 24, 2015.
September 2014 – Community Ecology and Phylogenetics
https://nickfountainjones.wordpress.com/2014/09
Community Ecology and Phylogenetics. The interface between ecology, phylogeny and function. Handed in my thesis! After years of toil I finally handed my PhD thesis in. Some people hate their thesis – but not me… I actually quite enjoyed the process. Would have been better without the pressure in the last 6 months though and the long weekends sitting at my desk! I’m very pleased to let it go – and oddly looking forward to hearing what the examiners have to say. September 22, 2014. 8211; so it is going to ...

October 2014 – Community Ecology and Phylogenetics
https://nickfountainjones.wordpress.com/2014/10
Community Ecology and Phylogenetics. The interface between ecology, phylogeny and function. Conservation Biology goes double blind. Has gone to a double blind review system – so the reviewers do not know who the authors of the perspective paper are! This is good news as it should help alleviate any perceived (or otherwise) bias towards researchers/institutions etc. Here is the link:.
