Nicodemus File

I hope to be able to seek teachings and explore convictions in this blog. It will also serve to explore what captures my attention as well as focusing on my spiritual journey. While it will center on Christian life and leadership, I will also discuss other items of interest such as books, movies, sports and my family. I hope to “Live out Loud” and get feedback from others and hopefully we can both grow along the way.

Nicodemus File: January 2013

http://nicodemusfile.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Monday, January 7, 2013. Book Review: The Love and Respect Experience by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. I got this book to try and find a devotional that my wife and I could do together. What peaked my interest first was that it was just 52 chapters and no 365. In a world that seems to try and crowd out things, it was nice to have a devotional that I could read and think about and ponder over a week. IT is not as stand-alone and I would have liked to have. It will cause you to really think and talk. Disclosure o...

Nicodemus File: April 2010

http://nicodemusfile.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Is loving your neighbor radical? When asked what one has to do, Jesus said that we needed to love God with all our heart, soul and mind and love our neighbors as ourselves. Is that radical? Is that out there? It is a concept that we will often quote in church and to each other, but do we really do it? Everyone is our neighbor. Love happens outside of the church. Did you ever notice where Jesus does most of his ministering and healing? Being a neighbor takes resources. Will you ...

Friday, September 24, 2010. Book Review: Outlive Your Life: You Were Made to Make A Difference. What I really appreciate is that there is a supplement in the back of the book for use in discussion with others and with ideas on how to put words in action. You can even get a supplement guide to go along with it. This book can be used as a personal development growth manual for yourself or even as a group discussion session for small groups or Sunday school classes. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Connections: Lenten Prayer Emphasis

http://fbcconnections.blogspot.com/2009/02/lenten-prayer-emphasis.html

Thursday, February 26, 2009. One question I like to ask folks is “What has helped you the most in your own prayer life? 8221; For me it was learning that God loved me unconditionally. Prayer was an effort when I pictured God as a judge wanting to criticize me. It has become a real strength in my life since I discovered he was more like a loving parent wanting me to come to him. What might help you most in your own prayer life? What might help you most in your own prayer life? Posted by Phil Potratz.

Connections: Breath Prayer

http://fbcconnections.blogspot.com/2009/03/breath-prayer.html

Monday, March 16, 2009. Once of the things that I do to help me with prayer is what is called a breath prayer. It is a simple one sentence prayer that I can use through out the day to draw close to God. Breath has always been symbolic with the Holy Spirit so I think about how when I am doing my breath prayer that I am inviting the Holy Spirit to work inside of me. We're averaging about ninety-two participants each week. That's an outstanding beginning. Guests are joining us in each service as well. We're trying to make contact with each guest, while not making a nusiance of ourselves. Pray that the worship services will continue to glorify God and reach additional persons for God. In our Connections worship at First Baptist, we hope the music we share helps us focus our attention on who God is in our lives and how much we need him.
