Epicentre wanted a brand identity was more meaningful and representative of who they are. They also wanted a fresh logo that appealed to younger members, ages 18-35. Epicentre is an organization built on many smaller cell groups that meet outside of weekly larger organizational meetings. This logo was a result of Epicentre's group foundation and playing off their name, an epicenter—the focal point of an earthquake.

The Director of Communications wanted a mark that implied online networking, but also digital safety and security. As of June 2015, more than 3,000 users are anticipated when The Hub is launched at the end of the year.

The mark needed to be engaging, welcoming, and connected—symbolic of what Foursquare Connection means for its dedicated attendees. The mark needed to be something that was strong enough to stand on its own, but could be flexible and complement the annual theme. Foursquare Connection 2014, where the new brand was debut, had more than 3,000 attendees from across the U.S. and 41 other countries.
