Nifty Thrifty Life: August 2010
http://niftythriftylife.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Here to prove that living on a frugal budget doesn't have to be bleak. Tuesday, August 31, 2010. I loved how the design looked and wanted to recreate my own version. In the end I finished it and sewed it into a pretty little pillow that sits in one of my favorite chairs (reupholstered for me by my mom when I was around 14). I do hope those darn knots hold up and this pillow lasts a long time! Total cost= my blood, sweat and tears :). Sunday, August 29, 2010. Bowling Ball Garden Art. 1 1/4 Cup Sugar.
Nifty Thrifty Life: Orea Birthday Cake
http://niftythriftylife.blogspot.com/2011/01/orea-birthday-cake.html
Here to prove that living on a frugal budget doesn't have to be bleak. Wednesday, January 26, 2011. I love cake really, I do. But I personally prefer a health-ified version of cake. But my Adam on the other hand likes his cake rich and chocolaty, topped with cookies and a heap of ice cream on the side. And when its your birthday around, you get what cha want. So, here is my latest smoosh up of recipes, that if I do say so myself was friggin' delicious! Recipe and picture from My Recipe Finds Online).
Nifty Thrifty Life: The calm after the storm
http://niftythriftylife.blogspot.com/2010/12/calm-after-storm.html
Here to prove that living on a frugal budget doesn't have to be bleak. Monday, December 27, 2010. The calm after the storm. Ahh,the past month has been hectic to say the least. For such a simple event, the wedding took up so much of my time and energy. And then it seemed that as soon as the wedding was over, we started in on Christmas. And now that we are almost done with the Holiday season, I feel like I'm ready to write a few blog posts. There have been some really great projects happening around here!
Nifty Thrifty Life: A Dress for my Bird
http://niftythriftylife.blogspot.com/2010/08/birdie-dresses.html
Here to prove that living on a frugal budget doesn't have to be bleak. Wednesday, August 11, 2010. A Dress for my Bird. On nights I can't sleep, I do what every normal person does; I cut out dress patterns. I have made several of these little reversible kimono dresses. They are so easy and take about 1 hour to sew. So while I sit up and eat granola and watch Jimmy Kimmel Live, I cut out a couple of patterns to sew the next morning. I bought this dress pattern off Etsy. Fabric Covered Bon Bons.
Nifty Thrifty Life: October 2010
http://niftythriftylife.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Here to prove that living on a frugal budget doesn't have to be bleak. Sunday, October 24, 2010. Image from makeandtakes.com. This is my new favorite homemade pizza combination. We made it for our pizza and a movie night. This week and it was so yummy. It is such a simple meal and with it's thin crispy crust and small amounts of cheese, it is far healthier than your normal pie. I'm not sure where exactly this recipe came from, but I didn't come up with it myself). 1 package Active Dry Yeast. Pre-heat ove...

The Singing Gnome: January 2011
http://thesinginggnome.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 22, 2011. I made a few mini clutches. I thought that making the same pattern from multiple fabrics at the same time would speed things up. You know like an assembly line. Great idea, in theory. Just one problem. When I made a mistake on one, I systematically made the same mistake on several others before I noticed. So I also systematically used my seam ripper. Pattern is the easy envelope clutch. From my favorite pattern shop, keykalou. Sunday, January 16, 2011. This is the result.
The Singing Gnome: Wedding Crafts
http://thesinginggnome.blogspot.com/2011/01/wedding-crafts.html
Sunday, January 16, 2011. I'm finally getting around to posting about the projects for my sister's. First up are the mustaches on a stick. We didn't make nearly as many as originally planned and in fact the whole idea was almost scrapped. But Mom and I had already put in too much time cutting them out to let them be scrapped all together. They sure made a good photo prop for the wedding party in the end. Plus the kids still play with them. Com, and a failed attempt at taking a class at Michaels. Although...
The Singing Gnome: July 2010
http://thesinginggnome.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 23, 2010. Since I won't be creating anything new while we're in Florida for two weeks, I thought I would post a couple of things I created earlier this year. Enjoy! These three wristlets were made using this tutorial. Over at From An Igloo. Unfortunately I didn't get a better picture of this green one. It was my first attempt and promptly given to my niece. This one is for me! This one was my sister's birthday present. Once again I only got a picture with my phone. Over at Skip to my Lou.
The Singing Gnome: October 2010
http://thesinginggnome.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 28, 2010. Just a quick post to share my latest completed sewing project. More of the black and white fabric. I like to use it for trial runs so I don't have to cut into my precious (more expensive) fabric. The pattern is the zip clutch available here. Through my favorite pattern shop. Keyka Lou (she has two shops). Gotta run. My little gnome and my crazy cat are demanding my attention. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Simple template. Template images by blue baron.
The Singing Gnome: Halloween
http://thesinginggnome.blogspot.com/2010/11/halloween.html
Monday, November 1, 2010. The first of (hopefully) many homemade costumes. He was supposed to be a muskateer but ended up looking more like a little prince or knight. Since we only made two trick-or-treat stops I guess it really doesn't matter. The important part is that the costume had a cape because of this. Mr Gnomes and I didn't have costumes this year but we did carve a couple pumpkins. I found the Hello Kitty pattern here. Thank you for linking back to my blog. Happy Halloween!

The Singing Gnome: September 2007
http://thesinginggnome.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 10, 2007. I've been gone for a while. Work has been keeping me busy and my knitting is suffering. I've had to frog a few projects because I had forgotten where I was in the pattern. Wave good-bye to Pirate Haystack and Bellatrix. The pretty pirate is back in my stash waiting for a new purpose in life. Bellatrix. Was only ripped back to the cuff and has been reincarnated as Eleanor. In addition to Eleanor currently on the needles is Molly. Might I add this is my first attempt at cables?
The Singing Gnome: Bounty of bags
http://thesinginggnome.blogspot.com/2011/01/bounty-of-bags.html
Friday, January 14, 2011. I love making bags. They are so quick and satisfying. I am so close to having a large enough inventory built up for my etsy. Shop Over the holidays I cranked out a few more while I had access to my mom's machine which is so much smoother than my own. So here's what I managed to make. This zebra number was a gift for my niece who loves zebra print. The lining is bright pink. This red clutch is headed for my etsy. The pattern is from my favorite shop, keykalou.
The Singing Gnome: June 2010
http://thesinginggnome.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Life has been challenging these last two years and I am in serious need of a creative outlet. I stopped blogging not too long after discovering Ravelry. But I fully intended to return. Hubby is up for orders in January and by June we'll be on our way to somewhere new. Phew! Did ya catch all that? DA just a day old. So while I gather my thoughts, yarn, fabric, and camera go check out a sweet Flirty Apron. Give away over at Sumo's Sweet Stuff. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

niftythriftygoodwill | how to look spectacular at astonishing prices
How to look spectacular at astonishing prices. Asymp; 7 Comments. All thrifters and lovers of vintage are obsessed with Pyrex. I own a lot of new/not pretty, clear, rectangular Pyrex baking dishes. I own no pretty, pastel, vintage Pyrex. Anyone who thrifts and looks for it knows how hard it is to find. I found some. And I didn’t buy it. I found this White Daisy Pyrex casserole at a GW in Boston for $3.99. How adorable is it? And some other stuff. Asymp; 6 Comments. Dolce vita madison pump. Tecnica Karin ...

Nifty Thrifty Life
Here to prove that living on a frugal budget doesn't have to be bleak. Thursday, February 3, 2011. Easy Playhouse with Felt Detail. It seems as though some of my favorite project start on a whim. As did this one. I had the sewing machine out to hem some pants and decided it was time to make something fun. After being snowed in for a few days, I needed an easy project and my girls needed something to do! The inspiration for this little play house came from here. A Table (I used a folding card table).

The Nifty Thrifty Mama Blog
The Nifty Thrifty Mama Blog. Friday, October 16, 2009. Apparently, I haven't written a thing since late July. Oops. Briefly, this is what has been happening: August was a hot, miserable month. It was all I could do most days to get the basics done, I was so uncomfortably, hugely pregnant and boy, was it HOT. I was cranky and whiny, and if I had posted at all my posts would have been huge, steaming piles of self-pity and late-pregnancy hormones. 8 lbs, 5 oz, and 21 inches tall. Tasty Food on a Budget
Tasty Food on a Budget. Wednesday, April 22, 2009. This isn't exactly a recipe, per se, but they are soooo good, and I haven't met anybody else who makes them. My mom used to make these for us when we were kids, and the first time I had "official" frozen yogurt, I was baffled by the fact that it tasted so much like ice cream, and nothing like the literally frozen yogurt that I was used to. 2 6oz cups of low-fat yogurt, any flavor you like ($1.00). Total Cost: $1.00. Cost per serving: $0.25. Total Cost: $...
