http://endorphinabuse.blogspot.com/2010/01/heat-wave.html
A way for me to present my randomness. Saturday, January 16, 2010. Pic taken on my way to work this morning. My running distances have gotten shorter lately and I need to be upping my long runs here soon in preparation for the Lincoln Half Marathon that is coming up May 2nd, I really want to set a good PR which would be something under 2 hours for me. January 16, 2010 at 4:04 PM. Beautiful picture, Scott. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Nebraska, United States. View my complete profile.

Endorphin Abuse: What Drives You?
http://endorphinabuse.blogspot.com/2010/01/what-drives-you.html
A way for me to present my randomness. Wednesday, January 27, 2010. This is something I spend quite a bit of time thinking about. What gets me out the door in below freezing temperatures to go for a run or to go into a gym packed with a bunch of other sweaty people, when I could just plop down on the couch, crack open a beer and veg out? For me, looking back to the few years I spent in the Navy gives me a bit of insight to where my competitiveness comes from. I started out at the bottom, and it didn'...

the alfer life: Candy Man
http://alferlife.blogspot.com/2012/06/candy-man.html
Wednesday, June 13, 2012. A resident just popped in for a visit with a bag of candy, leaving four pieces on my desk. I thanked and said something about having a sweet tooth. You have a sweet tooth, huh? He asked, grinning. As I nooded, his grin turned into a full mouth gaping smile that reminded me of last year's jack-o-lantern after the knife slipped and I had to cut his teeth off. "Well I don't! I love your stories :). June 13, 2012 at 8:59 PM. Great to see you :). June 13, 2012 at 10:58 PM. Chi Runnin...

the alfer life: November 2010
http://alferlife.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Just Like Old Times. At the New Place and just had the opportunity to meet a new resident who will be moving in after Thanksgiving. I greeted her and introduced myself, to which she responded: "My GOD you have big eyes! The honesty of old people. Friday, November 12, 2010. Life Changes Like the Weather. Change is hard. Feeling feelings is. I am tuned into such a damned. I've discovered, though, that. Can be a state of living.instead of a. Yeah, it was a tough summer. While my ...

the alfer life: My New Friend
http://alferlife.blogspot.com/2010/12/my-new-friend.html
Thursday, December 2, 2010. It appears the New Place might just have a similar cast of characters as my beloved Rock Ridge. I'm still meeting people every day and most the time I have forgotten the person's name within the hour. Not today, though. I'm Bob," this ancient person said to me as he extended a hand more gnarled than an old sea captain. "Bob! Well, I shouldn't forget that," I replied. You won't if you put an extra O in it," he deviously grinned. Indeed I won't. Ever. December 2, 2010 at 9:02 PM.

the alfer life: Sticks and Stones
http://alferlife.blogspot.com/2008/08/sticks-and-stones.html
Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Apparently a resident tried to sit in the wrong. Seat at Maude's table yesterday. Just to be clear, we still do not have assigned seats or tables. No, this makes no difference to Maude. Maude looked right at the perpetrator and told her she couldn't sit in that seat. And just for good measure she added "you bug-eyed old bag! Labels: i hate to say it but she really does kinda have bug eyes. Oh yeah and shes 15 years older than the woman she called an old bag. Run Race. Repeat.

the alfer life: Clever Karma
http://alferlife.blogspot.com/2011/01/clever-karma.html
Thursday, January 13, 2011. Lately I’ve had several thoughts of the day or messages regarding karma, which has given me reason to ponder its essence more fully and realize a definition identifiable in application to my life and where I am right now (and I don’t mean “where I am” as in sitting at the computer in Indiana, but rather where I am in my spiritual and personal growth.). Has put me in a state of consciousness in which I try to keep an attitude of gratitude while looking for opportunities to expr...

the alfer life: Fork You
http://alferlife.blogspot.com/2008/07/fork-you.html
Tuesday, July 8, 2008. Just like church, the dining room pretty much sees the same people sitting in the same places every day. There are no assigned seats here. Which I (perhaps mistakenly) tell each new Resident who moves in. So New Resident decides to sit at "Maude's Table." Let me reiterate.THERE ARE NO ASSIGNED SEATS. There are no assigned tables. First come, first served. Sit wherever the hell you want. That kind of thing. Labels: can anyone say unreasonable? I think I deserve hazard pay. Run Race&...

the alfer life: Wednesday Wisdom
http://alferlife.blogspot.com/2010/01/wednesday-wisdom.html
Wednesday, January 27, 2010. I visited a resident and began the conversation by breaking my own rule of never asking a resident "How are you? Well, I've been sick" 92-year-old Catherine replied with the all-too-standard answer (and the main reason you should never ask an old person this forbidden question). I asked, already too far gone to turn back now. Catherine leaned in toward me as if she wanted to share a secret and whispered loudly: "Let's put it this way. You should never trust a fart.". Septembe...

One Middle-Aged Mother's Racing Adventures. Saturday, July 18, 2009. Mighty North Fork 2009 — July 12th 2009. They call me Jane, that's not my name" is the lyric on the radio at 4am the morning of the MNF. Crap, now I have that stuck in my head for the day at least the beat is up-tempo. I get out of bed put on my race gear, load up my bike and throw my pack into the truck. Where are my keys? There they are on the kitchen table with my sunglasses—clearly not needed now, pre. Married 6 years, he is so sweet.
