How can computers as a design material be shaped into reversible expressions? In interaction design, the computer can be understood as a design material, we can shape and give form to. But to be able to work with this material, we need to understand its properties. Many of the computer’s material properties are temporal and dynamic; they can change in time. One property is the ability to change from one state to another and back again this is reversibility. Design critique of the prototypes.

Uncanny Playground is a playful, interactive installation that explores the relation between body and sound. At all times, the installation has a background music looping. Based on where in the spatial field the ball is thrown, an additional sound is played. There are five different sounds. This invites the users to explore the dynamics of spatial field. How can we better understand temporal changes in interactive materials? The temporal form (in interaction design) can be seen as the pattern of the state changes that the computer will produce. It can be a recursive algorithm, it can be simultaneous, asynchronous, carry meaningful information, be random, etc. The computations become something we give form temporal form. How can smart textiles be used in interactive designs to create sensory experiences for children with disabilities? The purpose of the project was to explore how digital technology brings forth new interactive possibilities of engaging the children in experiences that allow them explore and investigate in their own pace in a way the places no demands towards them. This gave a focus on aesthetic aspects of interactive technology and how smart textiles bring new qualities to the design space.
