A Simple Demo of the Hydra. In this demo, 5 thumb drives are connected to a laptop via a hub to simulate a directly attached storage. User data is configured to be distributed to the 5 drives such that a user data can be recovered from any 3 of the 5 drives. So this is indeed a wise poor man's RAID-6 array of 6GB effective storage capacity ( each thumb drive has 2GB ) with a cost of less than $10 dollars. And this array is.
