October 14, 2009 at 10:54 am Posted in Film. So, I’m finally getting around to discussing this film, which I actually watched a couple of weeks ago. And, as expected, it did not disappoint! On a last note, I honestly bought this film to see some more Clark Gable yumminess, but instead ended up with a rejuvenated love for Spencer Tracy. My heart just broke for “Square John” throughout this film. Leave a Comment ». Feed for comments on this post. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. You are...

5 great films I saw in October. October 22, 2009 at 2:35 pm Posted in Film. 1 My Man Godfrey (1936). So, I finally got to watch this film after putting it on the back burner for so long. I have to say that something was definitely wrong with me for waiting so long – the film is hilarious! I’m going to definitely expand my commentary on this film some other time! 2 Kramer vs. Kramer (1979). I totally cried like a baby, at the end of the film. 3 Rose Marie (1936). 4 The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer (1947).

Saturday, March 6, 2010. Those are harsh words to throw at a man, especially as he's walking out of your bedroom. The impact of politics on the film industry is a subject I find fascinating, particularly during and immediately after WWII into the Cold War. The more I learn, the more I want to know, and the more I want to watch films from that era so that I can try to pick apart what was going on behind the scenes in terms of censorship and government regulation. I've talked. I haven't seen the earlier ve...

Fire and Music: December 2009
http://fireandmusicmovies.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 31, 2009. Think of the problems it would solve - unemployment, poverty, standing in line for theater tickets. Many films, stories, and urban legends have been based on the 1920s Leopold and Loeb case, in which two young men decided to murder someone just to see what it would be like. Alfred Hitchcock's take on the tale, Rope. Links to this post. Thursday, December 17, 2009. I freak out in your dream, I freak out in my dream. Tuesday, November 17, 2009. I'm the only cause I'm interested in. I feel a little bit redundant, writing out a blog entry on Casablanca. Movies in all the towns in all the world, I feel like nearly everyone, even non-classic film fans, has seen this one. What can there possibly be left to say about it? Film History and Appreciation II. November 17, 2009 at 6:53 PM. I never realized that about the lighting restrictions! November 17, 2009 at 7:32 PM. I guess Ive never given as much thought to Casablanca as...

Monday, February 8, 2010. I was the steam when hot meets cold. Tom Kalin is not a director who shies away from controversial subjects. What I like about his films, in fact, is his ability to pull social taboos out into the light and examine them without deliberately trying to be provocative. Perhaps the best example of this is his 2007 feature, Savage Grace. Of course, what many would consider the most. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Friday, October 16, 2009. Take Hitler and stick him on the funny page. Exciting things happened this week! After months of resistance, I finally came over to the dark side and joined Twitter.
