Thursday, May 15, 2014. This morning we left Oslo on the 9:34 to Lillehammer. The route tools us north past the airport and around some rather long lakes through rolling hills, green farmlands and patches of pine. Åndalsnes was the end of the train line but not the end of our journey. We switched to a bus to take us the last 110 km or so to our destination of Ålesund. Now we were at sea level, winding alongside the shore of a fjord underneath heavy rain and waterfalls too numerous to count.

Thursday, May 15, 2014. The park sits on a hill to the east of the city center. The footpaths that lead to the top cut through forests and offer great views of the city. Strange statues stand tucked away in random places. The top has a café, a petting zoo and open fields. We sat and watched small children chase goats. Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Yesterday morning we left Tromsø—and Norway—to arrive in Sweden’s capital Stockholm. Here, people were walking around without jackets, a few in shorts and skirts. Outdoor cafés were busy and people paraded the shopping drag in droves. The sun shone between scattered clouds, warming the city to near 70°. I think we found Scandinavia’s banana belt.
