Saturday, 6 April 2013. This blog, as the title suggests, is a collection of photographs taken in Lower Normandy, France. Some are straightforward reference photos, others more "composed", where I've tried to capture a sense of the ambience. Of the location, or of Normandy in general. Hopefully these pictures will prove useful to artists, researchers, modelmakers and other such types. Or just people interested in this particular part of the world. A while ago I took some reference photos for a friend in the village of Cambes-en-Plain, near Caen. Although some features (eg chimney, road) are post-war, the buildings themselves look pretty much how they have since being built a few hundred years ago. While searching for classmates we learned of the passing of two more in 2012: Mary Jane Roll and Bill Cook; in 2013 we lost Carol Rutherford, Bob Stoecker, and Linda Taylor; and 2014 has seen the deaths of Carol Beckham, Larry Spain, and Paul Douthit.
