Dan Horvath's Running Blog. Dan Horvath's ramblings about running, life, and other stuff. Dan's other Blog, related to travel, can be found at: http:/ horvathstravels.blogspot.com. Saturday, June 27, 2015. Did I ever mention that I hate treadmills? No, I don’t generally like running in rain either, but which is worse? This would be a good test: would I be able to stay on the thing for 20 miles, like I used to? The answers to these questions turn out to be: yes, treadmills and no. It’s 5:00 AM, and ...

Running through instead of away. Who is this girl, anyway? Friday, January 16, 2015. When we last left our heroine in the fall of 2014, she had just completed the North Coast 24 Hour Endurance Run. And then . well, then she fell off the face of the blogging planet, only to return a few days ago with a "Oh, hey. How's it? What dark mysteries befell our fair leading lady in what will forever be known as "The Time Without Di? Where did she go, what worlds did she conquer? NC 24 (race recap here. And that br...

AdrianRunning: Antelope Canyon 50 - 2016
http://adrainrunning.blogspot.com/2016/03/antelope-canyon-50-2016.html
Thursday, March 3, 2016. Antelope Canyon 50 - 2016. I was slightly disappointed that I wouldn’t get to run the 100 miler again, but the 50 mile “sprint” would actually work better into my training plan. Anyway, I was pretty sure that unless I resorted to actual crawling, I would have no trouble in beating Ultra Signup’s predictions for me - 11:59:39, 44th overall, and 21st male. You know the wise old saying “always try something new on race day”? After slathering on a healthy amount of extremely cold sun...

Run or Di: January 2015

Running through instead of away. Who is this girl, anyway? Tuesday, January 27, 2015. I'm really good at deciding to do things. I'm less good at following through. We've all heard that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, right? Well, for me it's not so much hell as fat and lazy town. Although, according to my Fitbit, I've been moving a lot more lately. Not running, mind you (though I did do some yesterday), but chasing this little girl:. I think this was on a Wednesday. Thursday, I interv...

AdrianRunning: Monument Valley 50 - 2016
http://adrainrunning.blogspot.com/2016/04/monument-valley-50-2016.html
Wednesday, April 6, 2016. Monument Valley 50 - 2016. We stayed the night in Mexican Hat so I had to drag everyone out of bed for the early start. As with the 100, the previous year, we started the morning off with a Navajo prayer/blessing just before the sun rose. At the first aid station, Brigham’s Tomb, one of the local dogs took off and followed me. He wound up running right by my side for the net 8 miles. A couple of times he was so close that he tripped me up, though luckily I didnR...By the time...

AdrianRunning: The Plan for 2016
http://adrainrunning.blogspot.com/2016/01/the-plan-for-2016.html
Tuesday, January 26, 2016. The Plan for 2016. So, “what’s the plan for 2016? 8221;, I keep being asked. Well, here it is…. First of all, I’m thrilled to be an ambassador for Ultra Adventures for a second year. The race venues are just so incredible. I’m really looking forward to revisiting some of the locations, though this year I will be running more of the 50 milers. What’s the difference between a hundred miler and a 24 hour race, you ask? Feb 20, Antelope Canyon 50M. Mar 19, Monument Valley 50M.

AdrianRunning: Run Rabbit Run 2015
http://adrainrunning.blogspot.com/2015/10/run-rabbit-run-2015.html
Thursday, October 1, 2015. Run Rabbit Run 2015. By the time we got down to Fish Creek Falls, there were lots of hikers and race spectators around. Then a quick uphill to the parking area and out onto the long, paved downhill into town. I was feeling pretty good and took full advantage of this fast part of the course, clocking a couple of sub-8 minute miles, without much effort. What was it then? Did I pop a joint? I definitely felt better than last year and was able to run a good portion of the dirt road...
