Creative Writing Courses – Is the Bad Press Fair? February 14, 2015. A GUEST POST BY LIZ MONUMENT. So why do we need CW courses at all? I can only talk about my own experience, and it’s been extremely positive. I perform best with repeated reviews of my work, intelligent and structured comments from a feedback group, the overarching guidance of a supervisor, and a recommended reading list. Yes, it’s true you can learn to edit your own work (you have to! On the 17th February. Where Have You Been? Join 231...

On the pain of losing your cat. May 1, 2015. May 10, 2015. 8216;I feel like the McCanns’. I’m supposed to be writing this morning, but instead I’m sitting on the couch with a big pot of worry in the base of my stomach, peering out the window, because maybe, maybe, maybe my cat will appear there. I feel like the McCanns, leaving their child in an apartment. How could I forget my little cat had gone outside? 8217; I didn’t tell them how this time was basically my fault for leaving her out all night. Wednes...

Taking Over the Library – Chaos to Order. November 14, 2014. November 15, 2014. This is my new site! I have absolutely no idea how to use word press, so just trying to work it out as I go along. It turned out you have to pay if you want some colour or anything remotely nice on it. Hopefully it will get me going again. But I wouldn’t bet too much money on it. That’s me reading, my face looking kind of angry. Photos when reading always look pretty bloody weird. Where Have You Been? Enter your comment here.

The People’s Assembly. Over the past year I’ve been involved with The People’s Assembly. Their aim is to bring together all the various groups that are campaigning against the recent austerity measures. There is power in numbers. The most effective campaigns have been the ones involved in Occupy like tactics, rather than the traditional march. We have taken over Market Street on a number of occasions in Manchester. There is an ongoing campaign. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Reviews...

What I learnt from Mike Garry | zoe lambert

What I learnt from Mike Garry. May 10, 2015. May 10, 2015. I’ve know Mike Garry for years through literary events in Manchester, and he’s given some inspiring talks when I worked at Bolton University, so I wasn’t disappointed with his workshop with my Young Carers. Mike Garry’s approach draws the participants in by foregrounding his own experience of literature and writing, and why writing gives you a voice. Mike’s method involves asking the YCs to write down words during his readings. I think this h...
