Adventures at Home: Turn your 2015 parenting resolutions into routine with The Playful Parent
http://home-adventurer.blogspot.com/2015/01/turn-your-2015-parenting-resolutions.html
Tuesday, 13 January 2015. Turn your 2015 parenting resolutions into routine with The Playful Parent. I recently read a fascinating article here. By Emily Temple for flavorwire.com. Being a parent more. It is for those people, who have made, in my opinion, such noble New Year's resolutions - and who might by now be needing a source of inspiration - that I wish to add The Playful Parent; 7 ways to happier, calmer, more creative days with your under-fives. And here are a few of my favourite reviews:. Subscr...

Adventures at Home: May 2014
http://home-adventurer.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 13 May 2014. Our occasional investigation station is back, and it has a new theme - the seashore. It was easy to set up thanks to the wonderful finds we brought back from our recent trip to Dunraven Bay in Wales. My two little nature-lovers have been tempted into this activity again and again simply by my setting out the equipment and specimens invitingly and leaving everything there, ready when they are. Here's what's available:. 1 A collection of small rocks, minerals, pebbles and fossils.

Adventures at Home: July 2014
http://home-adventurer.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 22 July 2014. Little chefs and The Playful Parent cook up a storm. On Sunday I spent the day at the wonderful Geffrye Museum. Promoting my book The Playful Parent: 7 ways to happier, calmer, more creative days with your under-fives. The shop sold out of their stock - so I guess it went well! I set up an activity from the book, an invitation to play. Where younger children could come and take part in some let's pretend. Some older children visited the stall too and, though the tables were. And I'...

Adventures at Home: DIY haute couture
http://home-adventurer.blogspot.com/2014/07/diy-haute-couture.html
Friday, 4 July 2014. A friend just posted this wonderful video on Facebook. And I've watched it about ten times already. It may not exactly be a 'how-to' demo - but it is. Totally inspiring. Who wouldn't be tempted into making a miniature glamorous outfit or two after seeing such a beautiful film? HOW CAN WE RECREATE THIS OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR CHILDREN? I absolutely love these little mannequins from Harumika. Our local art, craft and fabric shop has a huge basket of handkerchief-sized (and smaller) off-cut...

Adventures at Home: Hip Hampstead Heath
http://home-adventurer.blogspot.com/2011/10/hip-hampstead-heath.html
Tuesday, 4 October 2011. On Sunday we had an action-packed visit to Hampstead Heath. My eldest was chief map reader and my youngest was in charge of checking that we were, at all times, headed towards an ice cream vendor. The 3 mile circular walk was from a favourite book of ours - Adventure Walks for Families in and around London. And we completed it in about 3 hours of glorious afternoon sunshine. First, our walk took us to the top of Parliament Hill. I see the moon and the moon sees me. Out of the woo...

Why is it so hard to find baby products that bloody well work? | A Mother Knows
https://amotherknows.wordpress.com/2011/11/29/why-is-it-so-hard-to-find-baby-products-that-bloody-well-work
Each mother knows…best. Mother and baby stuff. Why is it so hard to find baby products that bloody well work? November 29, 2011. Following on from my belief that mothers are treated like (really thick) schoolgirls. I’m feeling cross about a fundamental problem with baby products. Which is that there are (a) loads and loads of expensive, useless, badly designed gadgets thrust in your face all the time; and (b) very few really practical, well-designed things that do what they are supposed to? Here are just...

You can trot about the open roads and the various night spots, sporting L plates, tiaras, mini wedding veils and mini penises too. But for those of us who prefer the more sedate things in life, why not celebrate the end of singledom with a traditional afternoon tea. The Cadogan Hotel, Knightsbridge. This hotel is one of my favourite spots for afternoon ...

Adventures at Home: April 2013
http://home-adventurer.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 16 April 2013. Whistle while you work. It's quite amusing to look back to the beginning of the Easter holidays and remember our plans to spring-clean the entire house. I'd made room-by-room lists of things that needed doing, and stuff that needed purchasing. All so organised but, my goodness, all so ambitious. But the wonderful, and surprising, thing about the holidays was that I did do some spring-cleaning in the end. Not my. And one of them, called Whistle While You Work. First we examined a s...
