About | Noticing Project
https://noticingproject.wordpress.com/about
An image a day in 2008}. The Noticing Project is a collaborative endeavor between artists Alicia Alferman. And Heather Smith Jones. The notion of the project is to look intently and observe the small or ephemeral moments around us. The project began when we noticed similar things on the same day, unbeknownst to the other. See them here. Two days later this project became a collaboration. We will photograph and post images daily {mon. – fri.} throughout 2008. Thank you for looking. Feed for this Entry.

Is the project about the “small or ephemeral moments” or is it about “small, ephemeral moments”? I find myself wondering about the issue of scale in this project. Saturday, August 23, 2008. Today is a beautiful day. We haven’t had very many of these “perfect weather” days here, so I decided I would spend some time in my garden this morning. I love gardening, and this year my garden is doing especially well since we installed sprinklers and a fence to keep out the bunnies. I even like pulling weeds (my yard is VERY small, so pulling weeds isn’t the chore you might think it is) and deadheading my flowers. Sigh* I think I’ll do the laundry now. Friday, August 22, 2008.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009. You know how it is. it comes in fits and bursts and then a dull calmness. As is often the case when it snows, (even a tad) the urge to bake and cook grips me. So for the past 2 days, I've been like a dervish, whirling between flour and sugar and salt and onions and garlic. Some recipes, new and already tried, have emerged from the mess:. French bread (thumbs up). Turkey and vegetable soup (using leftovers) (thumbs so-so). Chocolate chip cookies from this book. A Little R and R.

Sunday, July 15, 2007. Dyllan's first party (and her hot mom). And dear, adorable Chris, who was not in the herd, but the herd was really mostly a freshman year thing, then we began to mutate and change, and we all know how much I love Chris- she was surprised at the baby belly, wanting to touch it and not wanting to touch it, curious about the scientific aspects of the experience. Full of pasta and beer ("Mandy, you don't mind, do you? I will be able to answer. It's like this: these friends of mine.
a certain slant of light.: grading.
http://sylviatheteacher.blogspot.com/2008/06/grading.html
Sunday, June 01, 2008. Apparently, I'd rather take photographs of my cats (who are so good at disrupting me- Libby is saying, "Stop grading! I think he might have used an explicative, but I can't be sure) than grade the essays piled up on our dining room table. Almost done. Almost. Then: quiz, quiz, quiz, test. Sixty copies of each set. And next week: last week. Almost. Almost. It's like this: teaching. I love those photos! Especially that last one :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). We can solve it.
a certain slant of light.: June list
http://sylviatheteacher.blogspot.com/2008/06/june-list.html
Tuesday, June 03, 2008. Hello June, month of papers strewn about the school's hallways, gleeful shouts, water sprinklers, stubbly garden growth, early flowering, sweet tea, and sleeping in. This month, I look forward to:. Oh, I must start with the lilacs. The dramatics of thunderstorms. I have a thing for pressing my nose against the window. Thinking about making this cap. Loving the colors in the kitchen. 2 A Handful of Black Cherries. Which apparently include cherries. Thanks for introducing us, Ang.

Threads of Truth: | Noticing the patterns that run through life from the top to the bottom
Noticing the patterns that run through life from the top to the bottom. November 6, 2016. Light and colors whirl around me like a misty kaleidoscope, the light playing and dancing as if the surface above was water. I am happy. My swirling ride seems gently jolting at times, but rushing adrenaline makes me not care. I’m sinking into the misty whirl. Things may not be exactly how I want them right now, but at least I’m not getting mad at myself for failing and that’s unusual! Have I reached water? I have l...
