NNREC BME Domestic Violence Project. We have been working alongside the NNREC on a highly successful BME Domestic Violence Project. The project was funded by the Lloyds TSB Foundation and provided advice and support to victims of domestic violence from Norfolk’s BME communities. Some of our achievements over the past 5 years include;. Four successful visa extensions and deportation appeals. We organised a welcome party for the three sets of Filipino nurses recruited by the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in 2001; 2002 and 2003. I joined the Norwich and Norfolk Racial Equality Council (NNREC) as I felt that with their support and guidance I could do more to help not just the Filipinos but also all BME communities in Norfolk. In the mid-1990’s NNREC inspired me to set up a support group. With the encouragement of my friends and support from NNREC Norfolk Philippines Support Group came into being. Strengthen and unite the Filippino community in Norfolk through friendship, mutual support, understanding and co-operation;.
