October 2014 - Hesitant, Hopeful

Happily holding my breath. Friday, October 24, 2014. I have always been a little bit prone to fits of. let's call it imagination. In addition to having the same dream. Since I was five years old (so, let's see, 31 years now), I tend to worry overmuch about things that're either completely irrational or which I cannot possibly begin to control. Rather than those things being small or tangential they tend to be pretty serious. A man attacked several cops in Queens with a hatchet. Every single fear I ha...

Happily holding my breath. Horror Hailstorm, April 2015. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. When it rain it pours. That's the old expression. Well, it apparently also hails. A lot. Because we had two hailstorms in two days. On Friday (4/24), it hailed and poured torrential rain for about 10 minutes. We'll call that HS#1. On Sunday (4/26), it hailed for more than a half an hour. This is HS#2. It's an important distinction. I am heartbroken. I love this car like it were my own child. To see it like this breaks my he...

Happily holding my breath. Thursday, July 2, 2015. Last night, we had one of THOSE. Moments. You know the ones, they make you laugh and cry all at the same time. Yeah, THOSE. That's when it happened. He turned the knob, which wouldn't budge. He rattled the handle, still nothing. We were locked out. Both of us. The blinds were open in several windows, so we could see inside, we just couldn't GET. Inside. Immediately, he turned on me, accusing. "Did you lock the door? He said. Um, no. That's when I try som...

Happily holding my breath. Tuesday, February 24, 2015. When I was a sophomore at the University I got hooked on cough drops. I had been pretty sick and I couldn't kick the cough, so Halls and Ricola were my go-to solution. I sucked down an average of two bags per day, which is way more than recommended, but whatevs. I needed their menthol-y goodness. I mean, come on, RIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCOOOOOOLLLLLAAAAA is made with Chrüterchraft. *cough* Yeah. Why am I telling you this? Smith Bros Cough Drops. I intend ...

Getaway – A Leap In The Dark. A Leap In The Dark. Writing, Hiking, Seeking. Novels & WIPs. Back in January (which, somehow, both feels like last week and about 6 months ago), the Scotsman went on a snowboarding excursion (I was originally going to go, and ended up not going, which worked out in my favor in more ways than one :), so while he was away I figured I’d be super productive AND have fun. I planned a mini-writing getaway to Cornwall. It wasn’t even that I didn’t have distractions R...A) It was...
