Eastern Market: a love letter | oh, bettina dear!
https://ohbettinadear.wordpress.com/2012/09/24/eastern-market-a-love-letter
Oh, bettina dear! A change in season. Eastern Market: a love letter. September 24, 2012. I’ve written a lot about location lately, and evidently, I’m not done. There’s something about the changing seasons that reminds me that my neighborhood is truly magical, and I want to honor it here, so that I’ll always be able to remember how lucky I am to live in such a special place. The Eastern Market neighborhood in southeast Washington got its name from the eponymous market. Dreamy rowhouses and blue sky. Let m...

Oh, bettina dear! A whirlwind birthday weekend. Eastern Market: a love letter →. A change in season. September 10, 2012. Friends, I may be the last to come around the bend on this, but I’ve finally succumbed. With crisp maple and oak leaves strewn about the brick sidewalks of my neighborhood, brisk evenings that require a cardigan (a cardigan! A fantastic (and fantastically easy) peach cobbler. And a trip to the ballpark to watch G’s beloved Cubs play the Nationals. Though it’s always bittersweet to bid ...

That Looks Yummy Starter Kit. What’s design without a design of my own? My first class in graduate school, Computer Science – Computer Graphics, encouraged me to begin a design exploration… hence the development you see now. https://ohbettinadear.wordpress.com/2012/08/23/a-whirlwind-birthday-weekend
Oh, bettina dear! A change in season →. A whirlwind birthday weekend. August 23, 2012. What a busy month August has been for me. I took a fantastic summer course on reproductive health policy (a subject not at. We kicked off our visit with a trip to Bohanan’s, a favorite of mine. I spent many, many evenings at their outstanding bar. And, oh, the birthday presents! I was spoiled, for sure. My friend Ana got me a bottle of small-batch vodka from a distillery. In San Antonio, and my mom and stepfather got m...

Living LA Life: Flash Mobs
http://living-la-life.blogspot.com/2010/08/flash-mobs.html
Saturday, August 28, 2010. So this past week my alma mater had a flashmob at the all-campus picnic before classes started. I wasn't there, but through the wonders of Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, I was able to see it. And as a result have spent the whole morning watching YouTube videos of flashmobs (specifically, the spontaneous bursting into song ones). Fair warning: if any of my friends know of a flashmob that's looking for participants and doesn't tell me? We're no longer friends. C is for Cristal.

Sincerely Yours, Kate: Estes Park and Pumpkin Pie
http://sincerelyyours-kate.blogspot.com/2011/11/estes-park-and-pumpkin-pie.html
Monday, November 7, 2011. Estes Park and Pumpkin Pie. In September I flew home to Colorado to take part in a family tradition - heading to Estes Park to hear the elk bugle while eating pumpkin pie. The two go hand in hand. Well at least sort of. Sure, you can have pumpkin pie without hearing elk bugle. But in our household you certainly cannot hear the elk bugle without pumpkin pie. The elk bugled all night long (they don't eat or sleep during the rut, those crazy bulls! Claire smiles with pie. Orangette...

In true Kate and Sam style, we promised dinner about 3:30 and actually sat down around 7:30 pm It always takes about twice as long to cook as I imagine. Sam and I drove out to Big Bend for a long weekend in the National Park. It tur...
