http://cjbowerbird.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Spoken Word Artist, Event Curator and Host. Thursday, July 18, 2013. To the Flight Attendant on QF11 to LA. James, it might be the red wine you poured so. Conscientiously, casually splashing two drops so you could. Confide how the turbulent tremors appear at always the. Wrong time, causing us to spill when we mean to. Contain, but the fourteen hours I spent with your eyes have. Changed me. James,. Your eyes blue like Lake Louise,. Condemned to ever imitate the pristine Rocky Mountain. Distraction. Bu...

Between Parkway Drive and the Dirty Three. For me, High Fidelity is a documentary. But I didn't know music until I met you. The phrasing of the way you move,. The harmonies between your smile and eyes,. The brushes beating the pulses beneath my palm,. The song cycles found in your sighs;. Your soul has the authentic vinyl hiss.

Spoken Word Artist, Event Curator and Host. Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Sex in Commonwealth Park. And then, when it ends,. Falling down by the bank. Of a lover's thigh,. Nestled still in the cupping bed;. Fingertips bridging hips,. The twitch of echoes of bliss. And the mundane calling outside:. Drawing away, slipping out,. Shading in the hollow of memory. Monday, October 13, 2014. On Trying Hard not to Write about the Sea, which is Ever Present. Displaced in the sick sweet grilled meat. It was a great ...

Spoken Word Artist, Event Curator and Host. Wednesday, December 19, 2012. They've always been out there. It's just the news that makes you think. They've always been out there,. Sometimes shallow, always deep:. The bump on your surf ski,. The thought that curls your toes,. As you swim through. The brush of water weed. A little beauty, and a bargain too,'. The agent darted through the house. Circling behind, herding us on. As if stopping would mean his death. Last weekend, by the lake,. Of the reel,.

It's just a mathematical formula,. The product of loneliness and lust',. As he brought the mugs of tea to bed. As we slowly woke to another day,. He settled down into the same pocket. Spoken Word Artist, Event Curator and Host. Sunday, December 14, 2014. Washington: Crossing the Potomac. The train pops from underground. Like an opening eye. And we are on the long, low bridge. The early winter day. The wide, flat water. The breath-held blue of the sky. I know I have my history. And I haven't really conquered anything. But I feel a touch heroic. To be part of Wordsmith, an exhibition which combines the work of Canberra region writers and artists. Open now at M16 Art space, shows the responses of visual artists to a variety of written forms. The simple concept of matching artists to writers' work has created a fascinating range of interactions. With Jacklyn Peters in front of her artistic response to my poem.

Spoken Word Artist, Event Curator and Host. Monday, November 4, 2013. TEDxCanberra, Part 1. One of the most rewarding things I have done this year was perform at TEDxCanberra. Being one of a group of inspiring speakers, musicians and performers, sharing our hearts and minds with 600 receptive people, was very heart-warming. I had been planning for sometime to nominate myself for TEDx, but very satisfyingly, I was approached first by Stephen Collins. Building on We Are the Poem. A Poet Quietly Panicking.
