He sobbed, "I only wanted to do the thing with your cheeks like Mommy does" (referring to a family game in which a person's cheeks are squished together in such a way to pucker up the mouth a...

For the latest of my casual and critical observations on life, love, and faith in the form of short prose and photography. Friday, April 29, 2005. Change is fun for Olivia. For me, however, the word is not typically associated with a pleasant experience. In fact, change makes me feel anxious, exhausted, uncomfortable. I think that I can learn from Olivia. I may never be one to crave change, or rush to seek radical change in life. but I can still learn to value and appreciate the beauty of change. Posted ...

For the latest of my casual and critical observations on life, love, and faith in the form of short prose and photography. Thursday, September 29, 2005. I don't claim to be a linguist - and I always welcome the perspective of those countless men and women who know Dutch better than I do - but every now and then, I notice something interesting with the ways that Dutch and English match up (or fail to match up) with each other. Recently, I've been intrigued by the translations of the word. I'm not exactly ...

For the latest of my casual and critical observations on life, love, and faith in the form of short prose and photography. Monday, March 28, 2005. Just a little something from my journal. A day of mourning and grief. A day of cosmic change. The continental divide of history. A day of loneliness and isolation. Sadness. Excruciating sadness. And death.
