OpenZinc is a multiplatform C Graphic User Interface based on the commercial products Zinc Application Frameworks version 1.0 through 4.2. This code base is now being made available as a free open source project. The first of these. OpenZinc is also both fast and small on all platforms. This is to due the frameworks being based on native constructs in each platform resulting in minimal levels of indirection. OpenZinc is released under the Lessor General Public License.

How You Can Help. Any printed documentation can be nondestructively OCRed and returned to you at our cost, please contact us at info@OpenZinc.org. Eventually, the framework could be extended regarding functionality, platforms and compilers. To this point the project has largely been a one person effort. Obviously, given the size of the code base and intricacies of multiplatform GUI development this is inadequate.

OpenZinc contains several differences from Zinc Application Frameworks 4.2 on which it is based. Most of these are simply to accommodate newer compilers and C standards. Other important changes include provision of code within header files to allow compilation under linux and a number of additional makefiles for new compilers.
