Richtersveld National Park Poto Gallery. I am a 3D VFX Supervisor working in the Film and Television visual effects and animation industry. Animation is not my only passion. South Africa is a beautiful country with an average of 320 warm sunshine days a year. I try and spend as much time possible outdoors, and love photographing nature for inspiration. I am especially interested in Nature photography, Macro photography, and Stapeliad desert flowers. Page 1 of 2. Tel: 27(0)21 853 7952 Fax: 27(0)21 853 8391.

CAMPSITES IN THE PARK : POTJIESPRAM REST CAMP. Potjiespram campsite is set on the river and takes its name from the Potjiespram Mountains. Potjiespram is beautiful, set on the sandy river bank where views of the rising and setting sun over the river are unforgettable. Near the river and close to the park entrance at Sendelingsdrift. It's sandy and there is thick riverine forest between the site and the river, making it difficult to access the water. CAMPSITE: NUMBER OF UNITS 18 - 6 PEOPLE PER CAMPSITE.

RICHTERSVELD NATIONAL PARK - HISTORY:. CREATING OF THE RICHTERSVELD COMMUNITY CONSERVANCY:. WHY IS THE RICHTERSVELD A WORLD HERITAGE SITE? It is slightly ironic that the reason why the Richterveld is a World Heritage Site, is not because of its ‘desolation’ but because of its population. The Nama people have made this part of the world their home about two millennia ago and because no one else has been willing or able to survive in this landscape, their lifestyle has not changed much in that time. CAMPSITES IN THE PARK : KOKERBOOMKLOOF CAMP SITE. The best ‘inland’ campsite in the park. Worthy of several nights’ stopover. The silence is numbing and the plant life fascinating. Kokerboom Kloof is an ideal base for long walks. Stuck in the mountains away from the river, this camp is murderously hot in summer, but exquisite in winter. The 8 Campsites are serviced by Dry Toilets. No water is available on site and the nearest water point is at Richtersberg (32 km) away. How the land took shape.

RICHTERSVELD NATIONAL PARK - VEGETATION: HALFMENS. The charismatic, northward-leaning halfmens is perhaps the most intriguing of all stem succulents. It is a tree-like plant, devoid of branches, with a spiny trunk and a mop of leaves on top. Growing to a height of about 2m, halfmens have swollen succulent stems which they use for storing water in this parched desert region of South Africa and Namibia. LENGEND OF THE HALFMENS:. The Khoisan Bushman were driven away from their birth land (The Kalahari Desert...
