Making of a home...: May 2008

http://www.otthouse.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Making of a home. Our journey through building our "dream home" from start to finish. Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Final touches on the staircase:. Sunday, May 18, 2008. Holy cow it's stairs. I really grew attached to the double 2x4 treads that served as temporary stairs along with the 15' 2x4 nailed across the loft area to keep you from falling into the living room. So needless to say, I was quite surprised when I showed up and saw the following:. Friday, May 2, 2008. How 'bout a snag? View my complete profile.

Making of a home...: January 2008

http://www.otthouse.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Making of a home. Our journey through building our "dream home" from start to finish. Saturday, January 12, 2008. At first glance, it just looks like Jeff's up on the ladder wiring in a fixture. Here's the part where he inched his way across the 2 2x10s we spanned across the foyer opening to reach up to where the entryway light will be located (about 20' above the floor.) Needless to say, it was a little bouncy. Tuesday, January 8, 2008. Retaining wall almost complete. Pause for camera time.

Satellite/phone/internet wires and the media box they'll wind up in:. Saturday, February 9, 2008. How 'bout some deck! Saturday, February 2, 2008. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Making of a home. Our journey through building our "dream home" from start to finish. Wednesday, October 31, 2007. Tuesday, October 30, 2007. Saturday, October 27, 2007. Contractor working on a Saturday? I went out to the house to make some more headway hanging electrical boxes and was pleasantly surprised to see the fireplace being installed. On a Saturday! I hope I'm not the one paying him time and a half! Friday, October 26, 2007. Garage slab 1 and Fireplace delivery. Wednesday, October 24, 2007.

Amatuer Gardening Adventures: May 2009

http://otthousegarden.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

A growing sequel to making of a home. Friday, May 22, 2009. Curry plant growing in pot. The plant smells like curry, but apparently is not really for eating, just decorative. It's supposed to flower later in the summer I believe. A Poblano pepper plant already popping peppers. The basil is really starting to take off. Probably needs a little thinning out for it to continue to grow well. Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Let the fun begin! The plants are in! Beds so that those "wild ones" can be contained better.

Amatuer Gardening Adventures: July 2009

http://otthousegarden.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

A growing sequel to making of a home. Friday, July 24, 2009. Big giant green worms. Yep You go to bed one night and have a tomato plant. You wake up in the morning and it has been devoured by worms. Not little cute worms, but big giant green worms. Giant green worms that can eat almost an entire plant in one bite! Ok, maybe they weren't really that. Big, but they were big enough to leave my potted tomato plant looking like a potted green stick with piles of worm poo (that's right - worm poo. The curry pl...

Amatuer Gardening Adventures: Long time, no update...

http://otthousegarden.blogspot.com/2009/07/long-time-no-update.html

A growing sequel to making of a home. Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Long time, no update. Well, haven't really had much to say. To be honest, I am a bit embarrassed about how poorly a job I have been doing on tending to the plants and garden. The garden has been completely overrun, despite several brave attempts by the husband to get it under control. But that is a whole other post. Basil (front) and lavender (behind). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Big giant green worms. Long time, no update.

A growing sequel to making of a home. Sunday, May 10, 2009. Get ready, get set. Just a few more things to do and the garden will be ready to be planted. I went ahead and planted the herbs in a container on the deck, since I wanted to grow them close to the kitchen. If these do well, I may expand my herb collection. Golden oregano (left), lavender (center) and basil (right). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Let the fun begin! Get ready, get set. Making of a home.

Amatuer Gardening Adventures: June 2009

http://otthousegarden.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

A growing sequel to making of a home. Friday, June 19, 2009. Our vacation was nice. Coming home to a terribly overgrown garden was not. One of the pepper plants popping out a pepper. Can you find the lettuce in this photo? Remember those little plants growing in tiny clay pots inside? Well, this is what they have become! Above is one of the zucchini plants. And this is a butternut squash. Hardly recognizable from their infant days, huh? Monday, June 15, 2009. One week away and look what happens.

A growing sequel to making of a home. Thursday, April 30, 2009. Still waiting for the garden. Surviving, but they are yearning for more dirt to spread their roots. Butternut squash (left) and zucchini (right). Zucchini (bottom) and spinach (top). Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Vegetables the Martha Way. Where would you look if you wanted to see how a perfectionist would do a vegetable garden? Of course, look no further than the queen of organizational perfection, Martha Stewart!
