03292002 - Day 1. Kurt and I step off the plane into a virtual sauna in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. With a little luck, all our luggage arrives (thanks, Southwest! And it was the Special of the Week! Yes, we are suckers, but we thought it just might come in handy with all our planned activities. Besides, Metros are TINY! And we quickly learn that we are extremely underdressed for the occasion ). Just describing the scene is exhausting!

Captain Tony s Saloon. 03312002 - Day 3. After checking out of the hotel, we determine that a picture-taking session of South Beach is in order. After all, we d been out of film the day before. So we head through the Art Deco district to grab a few shots of the colorful area. Once again, the traffic is extremely heavy for miles stop and go for close to an hour. Finally, we see the source of the jam; a drawbridge. Once across the drawbridge, we find ourselves on Key Largo! We made it to the Keys!

The main goal of our trip to the desert was to hike the Grand Canyon. The idea to undertake this adventure was born about Christmastime last year. It was something that had been on my to-do list for several years (since my brother suggested it actually), but I hadn t gotten the opportunity to accomplish it. Saturday - 8.26.00. Kurt and I managed to leave Jody and Kat's by 11:15 AM. Next up was a visit to Kurt's parent's house to trade vehicles. While we were there, we had the official garden tour complete with a morning snack of fresh cherry tomatoes, firecracker peppers and chocolate mint.
