mothership adventures: April 2015
http://ourmothershipadventures.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 30, 2015. We have had the privilege of hosting wonderful family and friends while here in Florida. My nephew came from Finland, and soon after he arrived, Grandma and Grandpa drove down in their motorhome from Maine. For a couple of weeks they visited us, and we visited them (at the campground). The time went by too quickly! Easter Sunday we had friends from New England, as well. My friend Ina. And after Easter, my sister's family arrived from Virginia, and we had a few. Links to this post.
mothership adventures: SUPERTWINS
http://ourmothershipadventures.blogspot.com/p/supertwins.html
In 1999, picture taken by our pediatrician. I think. I always wanted to be a wife and a mom. When my older siblings started their families, my favorite thing to do was babysit. I couldn't wait to become a mom myself. It probably wasn't a surprise to anyone when I got married young, but what was a surprise was the fact we couldn't get pregnant when we thought we were ready to have a baby. Finally in the Spring of 1998 we found out I was pregnant. Oh, the joy and happiness! No matter what the future brought.
mothership adventures: ADOPTION
http://ourmothershipadventures.blogspot.com/p/suomeksi.html
Our Adoption Story (Originally written in May 2011). The Captain and I first talked about adoption during our premarital mentoring. When asked: "How would you feel if you couldn't have biological children? We glibly responded: "We'd adopt! When I got pregnant with our supertwins, we thought that was it, and I guess adoption wasn't for us, after all. And we were busy, oh so busy, for many years with our multiples. So busy in fact, that I made The Captain promise to talk me out of having more kids ...When ...
mothership adventures: Saturday Morning at Summer Palace
http://ourmothershipadventures.blogspot.com/2015/07/saturday-morning-at-summer-palace.html
Saturday, July 25, 2015. Saturday Morning at Summer Palace. We spent a wonderful morning at Summer Palace. It was breathtakingly beautiful, and we loved our every moment there walking around, and taking a boat across Kunming Lake. There were a lot of older people performing and singing, playing instruments, and families enjoying the day together. The lake brought in a welcome breeze from the heat. The old buildings were magnificent, and all the paintings so gorgeous. And on Monday we meet Mei Mei! Voisi ...
mothership adventures: Orphanage Visit
http://ourmothershipadventures.blogspot.com/2015/08/orphanage-visit.html
Thursday, August 6, 2015. Highway most of the way, pretty scenery whizzing by fast. Rice paddies, water buffaloes, fields, some mountains, farms, then into another big city. City, where Mei Mei was found. We first met with the orphanage director and the assistant director at a restaurant for lunch. Such yummy local food (I don't think I could get tired of the Chinese Chinese food (compared to American Chinese). A lot of Chinese conversations and smiles, some translated, most not. Three things were so cle...

Papa and Crazy Me. Monday, August 10, 2015. Who was the most excited to see the first day of school arrive? I keep giggling at this picture every time I see it. This was their I'm serious about school look. Tess cracks me up. Almost enough to make me not notice that The Man Child is wearing flip flops, (One must carefully pick which battles to fight) and has car keys in his hand. 'Cause he will be driving both himself and Boo to school this year! Oh my my my. Pronunciation of the word kinneygarten! My 16...
Berry Bliz: July 2014
http://berrybliz.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Best in the land. Back when we used to grow a garden we always had lots of zucchini squash this time of year. AND that meant only one thing. Honey would make zucchini bread. This summer time treat soon became one of Karlie's favorites. And since she doesn't have too many favorite foods we do like to oblige her when she does have something she enjoys to eat. The other day, someone sent us some from her garden. Karlie got that look in her eye. Combine in a bowl. 1/2 t baking powder.

Ruminations From A Former Triplets Father-To-Be. Fire, Glass, OH MY GOD. But forget all that. I’d rather talk about something that happened a couple of hours ago. It genuinely makes the day easier. And in a strange way, I’ve almost begun looking forward to June 4. It’s painful remembering, but it’s also good. It’s a relief. And it fills my heart to hear from people who love us and love children they never got a chance to meet. Anyhow: a couple of hours ago. Best thing for that is the old unplug/replug, s...

Ordinary Miracles & The Crazy 9: You know that thing that happens when your mom visits?
http://nancyvnjourney.blogspot.com/2015/07/you-know-that-thing-that-happens-when.html
Papa and Crazy Me. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. You know that thing that happens when your mom visits? When she paints your youngest daughter's finger nails on the porch. And she does the dinner dishes while you get the kids ready for bed. And she makes you. And she brings pie and brownies when she comes. And she doesn't like her picture taken so you have to sneak them when she's not looking. And she and you spend hours catching up about anything and everything. And she uses words like lookie loo. Saturday, December 31, 2016. Despite falling off the blogging wagon a 'little' while ago, I am going to attempt a recap of our year, and include the missing fall months as well. It has been such a different year for us, being a little more stationary than usual, but that has been good, too. And we haven't been that. To compare, you can read our Year Recaps here: 2010. We welcomed the new year in Maine. Then the Captain flew to Florida, and Little Miss, Mei Mei and I flew to San Diego, California! And the...
