The Boer breed was developed in South Africa for their meat, hardiness and brush control abilities. Goat meat has a lower fat content than lamb, beef, or chicken and is eaten regularly by over 70% of the world's population. The popularity of goat meat in the United Sates is rising dramatically. One reason might be the improved flavor that the Boer adds to the meat. For a more complete resource article on meat goats got to: http:/ attra.ncat.org/attra-pub/meatgoat.html. John, Merre and Seth Putnam. Our Farm and It's Purpose. Fortunately, some friends told us goats could reclaim the land better than chemicals and we would still have our investment after we spent the money. We took their advice and now are well on our way to rehabilitating this beautiful farm and making it productive with over 100 high-percentage South African Boer meat goats and 4 beautiful brood mares. It took just two summers for the goats to clear the most pitiful pasture. Directions to Our Farm.
