What to Wear /Bring. Don't forget the essential sunglasses, old towels, snacks, water and a hat! What To Wear and Bring. Shoes you don’t mind getting a little wet. Sandals are fine. You may get your feet wet when entering or exiting the boats. Clothes you don’t mind getting a little wet. There will be a little splash off the paddle and it is unlikely, but possible to fall in. A water proof camera or dry bag for more valuable cameras. Cooler, water toys, fishing poles and dry bags are optional.

Paddlers float with the wind past peaceful and quiet nature. Turtles sun themselves on rocks, and a blue heron perches in its nest in the branches of a tree. The Big Sandy River is dammed at Bruceton Mills, creating three miles of backflow that is the Bruceton Mills Lake—flat water with no current. It’s a kayaker’s heaven. Shoes and clothes that can get wet.
