Monday, April 5, 2010. The Oxford vs. Cambridge Boat Race. I heard about this from someone studying in London, who said it was supposed to be pretty cool. Basically, it's a two mile and change crew race down the Thames. And something like 250,000 people turn out for it every year. It's kind of like a big tailgating party, where everyone dresses like they just got back from Cape Cod or Manchester-by-the-Sea. Pre-race dancing with accordions and bells. The scene on the bridge before the race.

Saturday, March 27, 2010. Snakker (veldig) litt Norsk. And here's a picture from Jess's visit two weeks ago (taken on the Opera House Roof). The Norwegian phrase "Trenger du pose? Do you need a bag? Sounds very similar to "Trenger do polse? Do you need a sausage? For the first two weeks I was in Norway, I couldn't figure out why it was so hard to get a bag at the grocery store, and why they always tried to sell me more sausage. Me: That costs nine kroner, not sixteen. Me: That's not a pizza roll.
