I live in the Blue Ridge mountains that borders Tennessee and North Carolina, where the Appalachian Trail runs. Our ancestors called these mountains the Blue Wall. If you where to see our mountains from a distance, you would understand why. There is a creek that flows in front of our house and it is called Paint Creek. One of the reasons the creek is called Paint Creek is due to the fact that there is so much ochre rock in and around the creek. In days gone by, ochre rock was used to create paint.
