Simply Aisha: October 2013

Monday, October 28, 2013. Week 3: Children's Books. I have always been a huge fan of children's books. And a lot, I've bought simply because the art is enticing! I've argued with local language publishers and printers about the lack of good illustrations for children. They will only pick up a book if they find the pictures exciting. Period. No matter how good or bad the story- for kids, its the cover that sells the book! Alas, I'm no children's book illustrator! Some studies for bids included:. An effusi...

Friday, December 20, 2013. A new brand is born, a new dream is dreamt! For a really really long time, I have wished to see my work printed on fabric. A week ago, this dream of mine came true, in the blessing of digital printing! My friend Farhana and I have been besties since we were 8 years old! So we partnered together and bought a stall at the British Women's Bazaar at a local hotel in Karachi on December 15th. I thought we should promote our 'brand' hence Teacup was born! While she had Rulli ( rull-ee.

Sunday, November 2, 2014. Suzani- is that what these are called? Hmm so I've been admiring Suzani art for months now and just waiting to get my hand at drawing them. but not until a week ago did I simultaneously learn what it means and discovered that a few friends were taking Making Art That Sells (3) again and one of their assignments was to create a tableware piece inspired by Suzani art! PS: I am not taking MATS again. so I'm stealing a brief here, but honestly I couldn't help it! Thank you :) xo.

http://aishaandherwork.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 31, 2015. I simply LOVE winter in Karachi! It's just perfect. Cold enough to feel cold and not freeze. Sunny enough to enjoy the breeze while sitting in the sun! Although the flowers haven't started blooming yet, and I don't want the winter to end just yet, I guess I had spring on my mind when I drew a few flowers and ended up making a bouquet! Sunday, August 31, 2014. It took forever for the summer holidays to end. And now they are a distant memory. Laziness and the heat of June enervated me. Took some time out to (re) design some of my cushions and scarves and made a debut on the editorial blogging world. Here's what the new cushions designs look like:. Some designs got a slight make over:. The cushions are on sale at the Warehouse in DHA Phase 2, Karachi (10-7 M-S)]. Here's what the display looked like:. A look at my scarf designs too:.

Simply Aisha: Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring!
http://aishaandherwork.blogspot.com/2015/03/goodbye-winter-hello-spring.html
Friday, March 13, 2015. Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring! Each year Winter ends around mid February in Karachi. This year, as I believe in the rest of the world, Winter decided to stay longer. Although Winter in Karachi is something we all look forward to extending beyond the 6 weeks it normally lasts, my friends in the USA and Europe were quite frankly sick of it! Which is why I gingerly shared my 'Cold Plate' design a week or so ago and promptly got asked to please post a Spring Plate too :). Let me know :).
