DemWit: A bully pulpit
http://demwit.blogspot.com/2011/10/bully-pulpit.html
I am a Christian and a former member of Southern Baptist Convention churches. When fundamentalists began their takeover of the SBC in the early 1980s – quashing any liberal thinking by filling its seminary faculties and college boards of trustees with right-wing ideologues, I left the “flock.” The SBC has gone so far in recent years as to expunge the writings of its former president Herschel H. Hobbs. Frankly, I resent the negative connotation given to intelligence in the following article. Editor's Note...

DemWit: Obama's prescient words
http://demwit.blogspot.com/2011/10/obamas-prescient-words.html
It seems like yesterday that, recalling the phrase “Prague Spring,” I was emailing friends inquiring about the sudden appearance of a new term, “Arab Spring.”. Moammar Gadhafi and I go back decades to the early 1980s when his name was spelled Khadafy and I was editor on a world news desk. This morning, as news came of the death of the former Libyan leader, I could not help reflecting on an earlier breaking news story:. The Associated Press, 9 October 2009, LINK. DemWit: Ain't no mountain high enough
http://demwit.blogspot.com/2011/11/aint-no-mountain-high-enough.html
Ain't no mountain high enough. 8220;Never miss a good chance to shut up.”. Detective Alex Cross, Cat and Mouse, James Patterson. Perhaps the most important lesson I’ve learned from years of blogging is this: you can pile up evidence mountain high, but if people don’t read it, don’t pay attention to it, don’t act on it, you believe somehow you have failed. The same fictional detective quoted above also said, “Falling down is not a failure: not getting back up is.”. You know the old saying you dont miss it...

What would Jesus do? 8220;How should the nation help the estimated 50 million Americans who can't afford health insurance? Christians are as divided about this question as others. Many cite Jesus, but come up with completely different conclusions.”. CNNcom home page promo. The following is a thought-provoking and balanced post from CNN’s “Belief Blog.” ( LINK. DemWit: Is Israeli-Palestinian peace possible?
http://demwit.blogspot.com/2012/02/is-israeli-palestinian-peace-possible.html
Is Israeli-Palestinian peace possible? By B J. Trotter. February 2, 2012. I hope this in-depth examination of a religious and political impasse is not construed as pro-Israeli or pro-Palestinian. I am merely setting forth some observations I hope you will consider. Two days before Christians around the world celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ, Gallup/USA Today released a report on the religious makeup of the United States:. The expression and exchange of views is often an uncivil, highly unpleasant exp...

Del's Perspective: Jul 18, 2009. I seek to bring to the blogosphere another perspective, or perhaps an up front honest account of the political world. There is no denouement to complex issues such as the stimulus package or global warming, therefore citizens shouldn't expect a nice and neatly designed plan no matter its source. Raising Kids in America: Kids cooking with Dad
http://raisingkidsinamerica.blogspot.com/2007/09/kids-cooking-with-dad.html
Raising Kids in America. Saturday, September 08, 2007. Kids cooking with Dad. Most people including the little ones in our lives we like to call our children love meatballs. I've found that my kids love meatball hamburgers with cheese. Making the burgers with them is half the fun. I have to admit that I love the million and one questions that they seem to have a never ending curiosity about the process of cooking. Dad or Mom can toss the burgers on the grill or in the frying pan with a little butter on l...

Raising Kids in America: Kids with an Attitude
http://raisingkidsinamerica.blogspot.com/2007/06/kids-with-attitude.html
Raising Kids in America. Monday, June 18, 2007. Kids with an Attitude. Recently, we have noticed that our nine year old has an attitude and thinks that it is okay to just say no to Mom or Dad when asked to help around the house. As a middle child of five sisters she is testing the waters as to what Mom or Dad will put up with. Pick a topic and she tests it. Kids need to know that the family space is not their space and that is a tough road to teach. Using the threat of trashing anything with their na...

Raising Kids in America: May 2007
http://raisingkidsinamerica.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Raising Kids in America. Friday, May 25, 2007. Kids and Memorial Day. Tradition in a childs life is important because what mom and dad do is what they grow up to do with their own babies. Just like certain holidays we all recall the days of our own childhood where mom or dad cooked certain foods to feed the family to mark the occasion you should consider making your own family traditions that will be duplicated by your own children. Enjoy your holiday and make the kids part of it. Kids cooking with Dad.
