Saved by Grace: October 2011

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. Thursday, October 20, 2011. It would be customary to start this post with a set of excuses for why my last post was around Easter. I am going to defy tradition and offer no excuse. I sincerely apologize to any of the select few who might ever check my blog. It is truly depressing to find nothing new. Presently I will try to fill in my rather large gap. This is where I will conclude for tonight. The rest will be filled ...

Saved by Grace: April 2012
http://monkeymagoo.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. Monday, April 30, 2012. Perhaps of all the human emotions, sorrow is one that has baffled me the most. I am not one to mourn/weep. Thankfully my life has not been one which that would evoke much mourning. But there are two events that stand out, that I think God has used to help bring me a better understanding of mourning and who He is. The shock to the whole family was devastating. I was sad, but the tears did not come.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. Wednesday, November 21, 2012. So, you think you have it bad with gas prices? Before you go and get all shocked, I will point out that this is not in the United States Dollar currency. It is in the quetzal, which is the Guatemalan currency. It takes about 12 quetzales to make one dollar. Oh yeah. The mountain is smoking. When you realize this is coming out of the earth. what a world! Yes, more transportation pictures. On ou...

Saved by Grace: On a Guatemalan Farm
http://monkeymagoo.blogspot.com/2013/01/on-guatemalan-farm.html
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. Sunday, January 20, 2013. On a Guatemalan Farm. Day four started early. As should any day that you will be spending on a farm. Antonio, Michael, and I headed out early with Antonio's father who is the owner. On our way to the farm we had to wait for some road construction. Road construction down there is apparently more lengthy than here in the States, imagine that. These are some of the cattle. The heat was reaching its z...

Saved by Grace: December 2011

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. Saturday, December 17, 2011. Saturday, December 03, 2011. The last post was left open for a sequel. With most of my summer summed up, I had to decide what a grownup is supposed to do. I have had some very interesting discussions at college. The thirst for knowledge creates great openings to share the gospel. Not that I have had any Acts 2 moments. But just the occasional conversation/argument on different issues.

Reviews & Events - Jill Kandel
http://jillkandel.com/reviews-events
Reviews & Events. Reviews & Events. Reviews & Events. By Dr Jessie Voight. Is an extremely thoughtful book, one that doesn’t flinch from the hard stuff, but digs in deeply and fully explores cross-cultural living. And was touched on many levels. Highly, highly recommended! Kandel writes with terse, imagistic prose. U of MARY (pdf. page 8, paper page 12). Kandel’s memoir, spare and immediate,. Takes the reader to the villages of Zambia,. Where she is immersed in a world far different from. I love speaking...

Book Awards Matter - Jill Kandel
http://jillkandel.com/book
Reviews & Events. Reviews & Events. I’ve been struggling this week with the numbers. I ran across this picture on the web and it said it all. “If nobody knows about your book, what’s the point in writing it? My numbers look like this: a first run at Autumn House Press is 700 books. I’ve sold 400 books over the past six months. More than half of my run. My publisher is pleased. To be honest, I’m not. Not really. So, the question is, how does an author sell more books? Because each entry costs on average $...

There is a rumor going around blogger that Google Friends Connect is going to be shut down. Google if you are listening please do not shut it down! I don't think it will affect blogs that use blogger, but I am not taking any chances. So I opened an account on bloglovin'. I prefer GFC, but bloglovin' is a good back up system. I follow some great blogs and I want to make sure I still follow them. While we are on the topic of great blogs. I want to share some of my favorites. This is a delightful blog to re...
