Parquet Parquet: September 2012
http://parquetparquet.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 25 September 2012. I recently attended the Tent London exhibition, where I saw many interesting things, but the one that grabbed my attention was the painted parquet floor - as I understand it the exhibit was a trend space, exploring the use of colours across materials. Parquet Parquet: January 2013
http://parquetparquet.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, 17 January 2013. Thinking about where reclaimed parquet comes from. I recently read a very interesting article by Paul Gibson on the history of timber yards in and around Hull docks, and I had no idea there were so many! JA Hewetson was operating in the latter half of the 19. Century, and into the first half of the 20. Century, so for over a hundred years it cut down timber into all shapes and sizes for the domestic market. Hull Dockyard c 1950. The wood type stamped with Calder is Coral Wood, ...

Building The Orchard: 76. Fractal pleasures
http://buildingtheorchard.blogspot.com/2015/06/76-fractal-pleasures.html
An Arts and Crafts ecohouse in south London : : : :. Crafted, edible, ecological. The garden and the greenhouse are both looking good. The back garden is flourishing, I'm happy to say. The yoga lawn is lush; we are already harvesting strawberries, blackcurrants and rhubarb; and the warm weather is plumping up the gooseberries, raspberries, plums, gages, damsons, blackberries, apples and cherries. 20 June 2015 at 06:23. What a lovely thing. Just looking at it gives me a head full of fruit :-).

Building The Orchard: 79. A taste of second fix
http://buildingtheorchard.blogspot.com/2015/07/79-taste-of-second-fix.html
An Arts and Crafts ecohouse in south London : : : :. Crafted, edible, ecological. 79 A taste of second fix. I've installed our first light fitting. To be honest, we are miles from second fix. There are walls to plaster and floors to lay and even some plasterboard still to put up, so shiny taps and lovely light fittings are a long way down the to do list. Nonetheless today I fitted a rather special light fitting in a rather unusual place: the middle of our bookshelves. 11 July 2015 at 10:44. Hi Phill, tha...

Building The Orchard: 72. A pot but no chimney
http://buildingtheorchard.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-pot-but-no-chimney.html
An Arts and Crafts ecohouse in south London : : : :. Crafted, edible, ecological. 72 A pot but no chimney. I've terminated our soil ventilation pipe. Lutyens went one step further and turned his chimneys into something truly monumental. Like Prior, we just want to have fun. That we are only now recovering from, but as a building material its combination of strength and malleability are unmatched. 12 May 2015 at 10:27. I love your decorative flourishes! Building The Orchard: 77. The end of one of many stories
http://buildingtheorchard.blogspot.com/2015/06/77-end-of-one-of-many-stories.html
An Arts and Crafts ecohouse in south London : : : :. Crafted, edible, ecological. 77 The end of one of many stories. We've been putting up shelves. 22 June 2015 at 10:41. A tear in my eye on this Monday morning as I read this. So lovely a completion, a closing of the circle for the sycamore tree, and a beginning of new life as leaves of books proliferate on the shelves and ideas and inspiration flourish. And Im glad you took time out to celebrate and be easy (easier? 22 June 2015 at 20:24. Fortunately th...
