Concluding Words, Pt. 1: Simply Love. March 9, 2015. We have been studying the last few chapters of Hebrews over the last few months. If you want to play “catch-up” check out www.churcht.org. And listen to the “Simplify to Semper Fi” series. instead of concluding with Sunday morning preaching, we will discuss the rest of the book in a different way. The subheading in the New Living Translation for chapter 13 says. 8220;Concluding Words”. So, we will conclude the. 8220;Simplify to Semper Fi”. Find a way t...

8220;More and More”: Explicit Instructions, Pt.3. March 14, 2016. We have been looking at some explicit instructions in the last two posts. In order to move forward, we are going to have to backtrack a bit. Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so. 8230; (1 Thessalonians 4:1, ESV). So what are those things? 8230; (1 Thessalonians 4:9-10, ESV). So, he tackles the fundamental a...

Concluding Words, Pt. 7: “MORE Stuff”-Revised. May 4, 2015. Well, we are here at the end of a piece of our journey. What started as a message series and a thought nearly a year ago has erupted into 22 Sunday morning messages, 7 additional blog posts, and many day to day decisions. I guess it has to come to an end. Or does it? Let’s look at the last verse we will actually uncover in the book of Hebrews:. Hebrews 13:22 (ESV) Final Greetings. Four things we are going to look at:. More than a suggestion.
More on Community: A Lesson from “Inside Out”. | Pastor Aaron

More on Community: A Lesson from Inside Out . August 10, 2015. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to go see the new Disney-Pixar film. Well worth the time and money to go see. Great Family film! Thank you Disney and Pixar! It was a very moving, relevant movie. Both myself and two of my kids were moved to tears. Seriously, I’d give it 5 Stars! The message that really stuck out to me is that we need brokenness. Not only are we weak and fragile, we need to be broken. We often only come to faith in Christ...

The Daughter – JEV
https://churchtriumphant.wordpress.com/2015/02/19/the-daughter
Sharing my thoughts…. The Daughter was on the couch wrapped in her favorite blanket holding an untouched chai latte while His book laid open on her lap. How did this work? She’s been pondering it for days and still couldn’t understand. Actually, she had been pondering it for months, even years but the past few days it had been a focal point. Why would He make such a promise? Yet even that wasn’t what truly caused her wonderings. But she did love Him, which brought on it’s own set of questions. ...If she ...

A One Line Message – JEV
https://churchtriumphant.wordpress.com/2013/12/30/a-one-line-message
Sharing my thoughts…. A One Line Message. We were singing Joy to the World….it was an updated arrangement (which sounded great) and it seemed to announce that Christmas was here. Nothing brings the feeling of Christmas quite like a traditional carol during church. With the drums, guitars, keys and great vocals leading the way we were belting out the familiar words when I was brought up short by one line: Let every heart prepare Him room. How often do I rush my time in prayer and reading the Word? There’s...

Applause, please, for the supporting cast and crew! – JEV
https://churchtriumphant.wordpress.com/2013/11/08/296
Sharing my thoughts…. Applause, please, for the supporting cast and crew! I am about to embark on my 6th wedding anniversary since Eric’s death. I passed the 30th anniversary milestone alone, which was quite difficult, and now I am looking at what would have been year 34 for us. Wow….it really doesn’t seem like 34 years ago that we began our Mr. and Mrs. adventure! Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But ...A per...

Not so random thoughts from an ordinary guy. So it’s been a while. October 13, 2010. We believe that life happens in the context of small groups. We place a ton of significance on our Sunday morning experience and believe that God leads the way as we create environments where people can come experience and hear the truth and love found in Jesus. At the same time, we realize that to really connect and to really have authentic relationships, we must meet in homes with small groups of people. You are commen...

Not so random thoughts from an ordinary guy. Who you love…I’ll love. March 21, 2011. If you arrived at this particular post, odds are, you were anticipating a picture. A picture similar to something you might see via the ppl of WalMart website. I suppose I can say, “got ya.”. But that’s not the point. 8221; Then we turn part of the conversation into, “man I miss Virginia Beach.”. Yep, we lived 7 miles from the beach for more than 3 years. But, back to Ohio we came. But no longer do I wish I could be ther...

Not so random thoughts from an ordinary guy. Born and raised in Chillicothe, Ohio, I got out of the small town and moved to Columbus to attend Ohio State. After a few years of acting selfishly, my wife and I moved to Virginia to attend Grad. school. While there, I hoped to never move back to Ohio. I’m getting old and try to stay active. I’ve noticed I don’t watch sports like I used to, not sure the issue, but I am enjoying life. Most importantly, I’m learning to follow Christ. November 2, 2009 at 8:55 pm.

Not so random thoughts from an ordinary guy. Newer posts →. So it’s been a while. July 20, 2010. Life is laid out before us and we have all the options, easy, hard, or something in between. Even when the correct path to take is the hard one, we do our best to save time, to make things easier by cutting the corner. We do this at work, in our personal lives, with our relationships, and in our finances. Thoughts on the Spiritual. May 20, 2010. We started our 6th Conversation group and roughly 30 people came...

Not so random thoughts from an ordinary guy. God has called you…. I love Chillicothe →. Who you love…I’ll love. February 8, 2011. A song that’s been on repeat for me lately comes from Chris Tomlin and is “I will follow.”. It’s an honest song representing the purest heart of being a follower of Jesus. Yet it offers such conviction to me. I honestly type this with tears in my eyes. One line says “Who you love… I’ll love.”. When I hear that, I process this:. View all posts by mattkysor →. DREAM TEAM | Matt Kysor
https://mattkysor.wordpress.com/2010/10/19/dream-team
Not so random thoughts from an ordinary guy. October 19, 2010. We cannot do life alone. We cannot plant churches alone. It takes a team. It takes a team who gets the vision and loves people. We have a variety of areas where people serve and we have the need for more willing volunteers in many areas. We started a dream team push a few weeks ago and I’d like to rehash those highlights. 1) Creative / Production / Arts. View all posts by mattkysor →. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. A different order of time. The work of a pastor. Praying with the right side of your brain: a meditation for ash wednesday. March 6, 2014. It was the 25th Anniversary of the ordination of the first Lutheran woman and we had been invited to the Lutheran Seminary in Germantown to help them mark the occasion. Back then, I was singing with the Anna Crusis Women’s Choir — a choir of 50 diverse women united in their belief that music could be a vehicle for social change. 8220;Mommy, did somebody die? 8220;Yes,...

Concluding Words, Pt. 7: “MORE Stuff”-Revised. Concluding Words, Pt. 1: Simply Love. March 28, 2016. Last night I had the chance to go see. Batman vs. Superman. I am not going to review the film but wanted to consider a thought conveyed through an interaction between one of the heroes and one of the villains. (No spoiler alert needed here.) Basically the villain goes on a rant and the the thesis of his rant is:. God cannot be simultaneously all good and all all powerful. If He is not good toward us would...

Pastor Hobbins' Blog. Pastor Steve Hobbins, Lewis Avenue Baptist Church, Temperance, Mi. 8220;My Christmas Wish” – A poem I wrote years ago for my love. December 22, 2014. Angie and I in College. This is a poem I wrote for Angie just before we were married. Though it’s not worldly or wicked, it was written from a romantic, rather than a spiritual standpoint. Ladies, enjoy. Guys, try not to gag too much. There’s something magic in the air, and the whole world knows the reason. But if someone asked me.
Pastor Paul Hoffman | Reflecting on life & ministry in Newport, RI
January 13, 2017. The 2016 Presidential election was one of the most divisive contests in history. Millions of Americans considered both major party candidates to be flawed and unpopular, albeit for different reasons. However, in times like this, I choose to step back and remind myself of the ultimate leader: Jesus Christ. One of the most astonishing examples of Jesus’ servant-leadership is found in John 13:1-17. That story reveals at least two things. Jesus also knew his power (v.3). Jesus was n...Not o...
