BERYL – Candlebridge Tramway
http://stlr.info/locos/beryl
Designed and built in 1982 by my father, it is one of only a handful of projects dad actually finished…. The date of build is a guess between myself and a friend who can remember operating the loco at certain key points in our lives. Namely leaving school…. A single oscillating cylinder powered by a pot boiler. I will attempt to provide a fuller description at some future date. One change I’ve made since dad passed away is the addition of a name. Door Valley Railway – Candlebridge Tramway

During the mid 1960’s my father built a model railway in the back garden of his home in Taplow, Berks. Dad, being dad was soon distracted by other projects and the railway was left to rot. Over the years various parts of the line were lifted and some areas re-landscaped to suit my mum. However, 45 years on and the line could still be traced in the undergrowth or along the embankments. Even the old stone built engine shed survived under some Ivy, if you knew where to look…. Tools & Kit.

Tools & Kit. Tools & Kit. Probably my most prized possession is the Unimat SELECTA, left to me by my Dad this multi-purpose lathe is a beautiful bit of kit. I have many extras for the lathe, most useful is the pillar-drill bar which converts the lathe into a pillar-drill. I also have a three jaw, four jaw and independent four jaw chucks. The tool post also converts into a vice for pillar-drill work while I also posses the necessary kit for the disc saw. Posted by Andrew - General Manager. Tools & Kit.

SM32 News – Candlebridge Tramway

I have finally gotten around to working on JINX’s body. This has been precipitated by the acquisition of a small voltage regulator and switch gear. I will build the body to be removable in sections to allow accessibility to the batteries and electronics and for ease of painting. I have also acquired a seated driver who will add a much needed personal feel! Bonnet and cab front together and batteries on charge. Front left-hand view of the new buffer-beam and bonnet shell. Electrics all wired up.
