H IV / AIDS Services. Living with HIV/AIDS, and especially a new diagnosis, can be a confusing, frightening, and often overwhelming situation. Thats why peer navigators - specially trained community members who are themselves living with HIV/AIDS - can be so important. They act as mentors and role models to others who are learning to cope with the daily challenges of living with HIV. Peer Navigators can help:.
