I am far behind in showing you pictures of quilts that I've seen this summer, and quilts that I have been working on. But today I want to share a special exhibit of one woman's quilts that was part of the August AQS Show in Grand Rapids. Aileen O'Toole Stannis was remembered and honored with a special tribute exhibit of 26 of her quilts. This display of. HER REPRODUCTION OF AN OLD QUILT.

Small Quilts and Doll Quilts: March 2015
http://smallquiltsanddollquilts.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Small Quilts and Doll Quilts. Monday, March 30, 2015. My Day Lily Quilt is Finished! This quilt was one of the first quilts I started, and has been a quilt top for a long time. First I was going to hand quilt it, then I was going to machine quilt it, and this year I sent it out to be quilted, and I am very happy with the results. My friend Joyce Brenner quilted it. But enough fussing about other things! On to the pictures! This is the basic block, and I'm not sure what the flower is - I call it a Day Lily.

Small Quilts and Doll Quilts. Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Small Wall Quilt for the New House. I am recovering from pneumonia, and am feeling much better. The snow is so beautiful here, but since I'm sick, I only take pictures of it from the car, and otherwise I stay inside. Here's a picture I took Sunday of the woods:. Doesn't it look like someone had a snowball fight and hit all the trees with snowballs? Are any of you going to the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show in Newport News, Virginia this week? I've lived ...

Small Quilts and Doll Quilts. Monday, August 3, 2015. Summer Days are Flitting Away. There hasn't been much quilting here lately. The weather has been superb, and we have had lots of company. I am working on some projects, but have none finished to show to you. But I am happy with my starts, and there will be new quilts later. That was in the house.was a fat caterpillar, happily munching away in the bouquet! I hope to see more caterpillars soon. If you are curious, here are three projects that are in the...

Small Quilts and Doll Quilts: July 2015
http://smallquiltsanddollquilts.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Small Quilts and Doll Quilts. Tuesday, July 7, 2015. 4th of July at the Lake. This year's patriotic quilt was going to be a little bigger, but I had trouble with the borders and just stopped on it, and finished it without making the final white border as I had originally planned. Sometimes things just don't work out, and I move on. Finished is definitely better than a border that doesn't want to cooperate with me. Right? Here is the quilt:. The finished size is 20" by 24". Teenage boys (and my son who is...

Small Quilts and Doll Quilts: Churn Dashers Quilt for 2015
http://smallquiltsanddollquilts.blogspot.com/2015/06/churn-dashers-quilt-for-2015.html
Small Quilts and Doll Quilts. Monday, June 22, 2015. Churn Dashers Quilt for 2015. I like it because it has a "star" feel to it, and is a little different than the usual nine patch/snowball quilt layout. The information at the Quilt Index includes the name of the quilt maker: Maw Maw Parker (maiden name Holmes), birth date 1850's. She was married to Paw Paw Parker who was a farmer, a sharecropper in Franklin Parish, Louisiana. Also there is some limited information about the quilt:. I am always searching...

Small Quilts and Doll Quilts. Monday, July 28, 2014. Doesn't Anyone Stay in One Place Anymore? You're so far away, doesn't anyone stay in one place anymore? I am reminded of Carol King's sad song this week as I'm back in Virginia packing up my quilt stash. I have such mixed emotions about leaving. I am really going to miss my good friends in Virginia. So that is why I haven't posted for a month! I wonder how many boxes I will need to pack up the whole quilt room stash. Links to this post. Churn Dasher Qu...

Small Quilts and Doll Quilts. Wednesday, November 19, 2014. HO, HO, HO, and now ho, ho, ho. Yesterday morning when I posted about the little Christmas quilt that spells out "HO HO HO", I said it could be made a little smaller, so last night I tried it, and here's the results:. Here's the little doll quilt next to the bigger one, for scale:. Kay commented on my last post about where I saw this idea. Kay said:. Love your fabric choice! I've made a few Ho Ho Ho! Links to this post. Tuesday, November 18, 2014.
