The small organ has had the bellows made

I have already started another smaller organ designed to work from a car battery . The intention is to be stand alone or linked to ChrisTina to act as a ghost organ. It is based on the 65 key scale Topsy organ designed by John Smith. The small organ has had the bellows made and the first 4 bass pipes installed into a temporary case, the counter melody pipes made and the wind chest they will use started. Universal 26 Note Organ. Built by John Pettifer. The Universal 26 as it is called can play both standard 20 note and 26 note rolls but not the J.S. 20 rolls. This is achieved by placing the extra 6 notes in the margins of a 20note roll. Picture No.1 shows my second attempt at the main wind chest because I had some obscure ciphers, which did not show up until the octave pipes were fitted and I had glued an MDF bottom board, which could not be easily removed. It also gave me the chance to increase the space.

How did I first start in music? I was first introduced into music by my father when I used to listen to his collection of 78 rpm classical records. Apparently I used to stand up ready to turn over the record even before it finished. Don’t forget a 78 rpm record only lasted about three minutes. The Hand Crank Organ. I decided to build the senior organ, so sent off for the plans from John Smith. After watching the video supplied with the drawings I made a start with the bellows and reservoir.
