Since starting teaching, I have become quite a fan of the check-list, and I suspect I am not alone. In the meantime, here are some thoughts on helping sixth-formers plan essays. Well, that is what the essay structure should look like. I saw this demonstrated many moons ago when I was just starting out, and I've used it ever since - the image is clear and really gets the point across. The conclusion is the tail.
