Hot ' N ' Sweet Pickles. Friday, May 1, 2009. Allam 1/4th kg Chopped. Bellam 1.4th kg. Chilli powder 1/4th kg. Clean the ginger and take out the peel and chopp in to pieces and dry them well in the sun for few hours. Grind the ginger pieces and garlic in to coarse paste. Boil the tamarind in 1 cup water and cool and remove the pulp ans keep it aside. Grind all the above ingredients tamarind,ginger garlic paste,salt,chilli powder,and Bellam in the stone mortar to a smooth paste. This paste stays for 1 year.

Saturday, May 2, 2009. Garlic 15 - 20 pods. Raw Mango 1 cup chopped. Red Chile Powder 2/3 cup. Black Mustard Seeds Powder 2/3 cup. Fenugreek Seeds 1/2 tsp. Mustard Oil as 1/2 cup. Peel all the garlic pods and keep aside. Wash, clean and cut the raw mango along with the seed into big chunks. Black mustard seeds are ground into fine powder with a pinch of salt(without salt ground powder can turn bitter in no time). Then transfer all the mixed ingredients to a clean jar. Yummy Chuneys for Idli and Dosa. Friday, April 24, 2009. Tomato and Onion Pachadi. Tomato 2 cups chopped. Onion 1 cup chopped. 1/4 th spoon danyalu. Take a pan after it heats add some oil. After the oil heats add the poppu ingredients and fry them well. Then add onion and fry for 2 mins till they become soft. Add tomatoes to the pan and fry till they become soft and the water in it dries. After the fried mixture cools add salt and pasupu and grind it in to smooth paste. This goes well with idili and dosa.

Yummy Chuneys for Idli and Dosa. Tuesday, April 28, 2009. 2 cups onion pieces. 1/4 tea spoon tamarind pulp. 1 tea spoon jaggery. 1/2 tea spoon mustard seeds. Heat oil, add mustard seeds. When they start popping, add curry leaves and fry for sometime. Grind the seasoning and all other ingredients to a paste without adding too much water. Sunday, May 3, 2009. 4 cups full of dried mango pieces. 1 cup chilli powder. 1/2 cup menthi seeds. 1/4th cup mustard seeds. 1 cup gingely ol. Peel the mangoes and cut them in length wise like thin chips and dry them in the sun for 2 days till the pieces become dry. Take a pan and fry the menthi and mustard seeds well till they become dark brown in color and gives a gud flavor. Grind the fried mustard and menthi seed to a fine powder. Take a pan heat the oil and remove it from the fire.

Sunday, May 3, 2009. 2 cup mango pieces. 1/2 spoon menthi seeds. 1 cup garlic pods. 1 cup mustard oil. Mix all the above ingredients and shift the mixture to a dry jar. Mix the pickle thoroughly. So that the masala mixes well with the mango pieces. After 4th day add the 1/2 cup oil to the pickle so that the oil floats above the pickle. This pickle also stays more than 2 years if kapt in a dry place and dry spoon is used to serve. This pickle goes well with hot rice. 2 cups mango pieces. 1 cup of masala.
