Part 10: Casa Banderas. Olivia from Germany checking in, with owner and hospitalero Gordon Bell. Casa Banderas is owned by a wonderful South African guy who goes by the name of Gordon Bell, so of course we South Africans had to stay there! It turned out to be one of the best albergues I have stayed at on the Camino. It’s not very big, can only sleep something like ten or fifteen people, I forget the exact number. The people you see here were the only occupants that particular night. November 7, 2013.

Monthly Archives: May 2013. This, That and the Other. Also I am now at an age where I feel a change coming on. Perceptions are changing, I am changing, things look different now. In about three years from now I will be turning sixty and I believe it to be a perfectly normal thing at this stage of one’s life to pause and take stock of oneself. Monthly Archives: July 2013. Celebration of St. James Day 2013. The tragedy that happened in Santiago de Compostela on the eve of the Feast day of St. James, i.e. 24 July 2013, made me think of an old Jethro Tull rock song from my youth:. In the shuffling madness,. Of the locomotive breath,. Runs the all-time loser,. Headlong to his death,. He sees the pistons scraping,. Steam breaking on his brow,. Charlie stole the handle,. And the train won’t stop going,. Words and music by Ian Anderson). July 28, 2013.
