Not anymore though, after using it in the client system we are working on at the moment. Once I got past the riduclous terminology used by AOP (cross cutting concerns, joinpoints, pointcuts, weaving etc. Who comes up with this sort of naming crap? As we are using the Spring framework. Is an excellent book on the topic for anyone interested in finding out more about Spring/AOP.

It's not rocket science, so keep it simple!: 100% Agile?

http://www.pinakin-uk.blogspot.com/2005/10/100-agile.html

It's not rocket science, so keep it simple! Thursday, October 20, 2005. I don't think so - well not in the investment banking sector anyway. I have now worked for 9 different clients in this sector and the one thing they all had in common was the usage of the process known as JFDI (Just Fucking Do It! After all, never forget the phrase uttered by many a senior manager '. we are in the investment banking business and not technology'. Want to show just how good Agile is? I have a few suggestions.

A random walk through Financial IT: Update: UCM or Base ClearCase?

http://dholland.blogspot.com/2005/10/update-ucm-or-base-clearcase.html

A random walk through Financial IT. Tuesday, October 25, 2005. Update: UCM or Base ClearCase? We copped out UCM, as implemented at our client, was way too heavy for our project needs and with the help of the local admin Pinakin. And I were able to get a significantly cut down process that more resembles base ClearCase. Rational/IBM have recognised the weight of implementing UCM and modified the process tooling in 2004, this client has yet to upgrade. Other Finetix colleagues, Marc. UCM or Base ClearCase?

A random walk through Financial IT: September 2005

http://dholland.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html

A random walk through Financial IT. Thursday, September 01, 2005. UCM or Base ClearCase? ClearCase pretty much has the SCM market sown up in investment banks and I have used it on many projects over the last 8 years; sure it’s heavy(ish) to learn and refactoring support could be better, but it does what it says on the tin and quickly becomes a part of the build environment that you tend to ignore because it just works. Until today. There is good online material supporting UCM (good overview here. I’ve no...
