Archadian Skies: Cosplay
http://archadianskies.blogspot.com/p/cosplay.html
Cosplay' is the romanization of the hybrid Japanese term 'kosu' short for 'costume' and 'pureii', or 'play'. I began tentatively cosplaying in 2004 and my love for it led me to abandon my History Major and take up Fashion and Costume Design in 2009. Here are a few of my favourites in chronological order. Please click the picture to follow through to DeviantArt! Larsa Ferrinas Solidor from Final Fantasy XII. Ad Augusta per Angusta. Kuja from Final Fantasy IX. He Never Misses His Mark. The Kiss of Death.

Archadian Skies: November 2011
http://archadianskies.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 26, 2011. First of all, my process of getting a Tumblr was suddenly expedited upon the creation of this particular post. It was humbling enough to have had an article. Written about my work, let alone to suddenly see it all over Tumblr! My Tumblr bears the same name as this blog, so if youre the Tumbling type you can find me over at Archadian Skies. Now that my graduate show is over, I can take the time to explain my year-long project! Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Showcased wonderful ...

Archadian Skies: June 2011
http://archadianskies.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 14, 2011. The Age: Design a Career in Fashion. It is with a rather sheepish grin that I say hello to you all again. I do apologize- life swallowed me up and to be honest I'm still wallowing in its stomach feebly pawing at its insides (read as: all my assignments are due in a fortnight along with Semester exams). In the time that passed, I was interviewed by The Age. Newspaper to talk about my decision to swap courses from History at The University of Melbourne. Thank you for stopping by!

Archadian Skies: December 2011
http://archadianskies.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 6, 2011. A sneakpeak of what’s going into my submission for the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival “Fashion Capitals of the World” exhibit. Trying to tackle everything 'Melbourne' is a big ask, and one of our fashion tutors has urged us to " highlight the interplay of diverse cultures that gives rise to something uniquely Melburnian". Being the only costume designer on the team, I've decided to highlight our Performing Arts culture using Dame Nellie Melba. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Archadian Skies: Introduction
http://archadianskies.blogspot.com/p/introduction.html
Annie Cabral entered the Australian Academy of Design in 2009 but has been sewing stories from fabric since 2004. Thinking she should fight creative compulsion for what she perceived as practicality, Annie delved into European History and relegated all else as a hobby. After dabbling briefly in History at the University of Melbourne, she finally caved in and traded History books for French curves. An extension of her DeviantArt Page. December 23, 2014 at 11:56 AM. Archadian Skies: Et in Archadia; Label Concept
http://archadianskies.blogspot.com/p/et-in-archadia-label-concept.html
Et in Archadia; Label Concept. Et in Archadia' is a combination of the Nicolas Poussin, Memento Mori concept paintings. And a city based on a fiction interpretation of New York in the Final Fantasy XII world of Ivalice. The concept came about when I studied Memento Mori. In History around the same time I played Final Fantasy XII. (Hi my name is Annie; I am a gamer girl and I regret nothing. The label roughly means 'And in Archadia', which symbolises how each created piece exists in two worlds- the realit...

Archadian Skies: February 2012
http://archadianskies.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 11, 2012. As per my last post. Ive continued to use Dame Nellie Melba for as inspiration for my Fashion Capitals of the World. Entry However, I decided to incorporate another culture that has quite a long history of opera too- the Chinese. The Chinese are intricately woven into Melbournes history beginning from the gold rush and continuing today. With that in mind, Ive designed an Eastern-Edwardian evening gown using the distinct 1900s silhouette highlighted with Chinese silks.

Archadian Skies: Fabric Therapy
http://archadianskies.blogspot.com/2012/03/fabric-therapy.html
Saturday, March 3, 2012. A quick post just to show off the lovely fabrics I've purchased for my Eastern Opera project! Beautiful Japanese silk from a handsewn koto. The shopowners were so distressed when I mentioned I was cutting it up T T I’m so sorry). The silk chiffon I found at Tessuti. And it is the loveliest, softest whisp-of-a-fabric I have ever held. Turns out it’s from Dolce and Gabbana and that would explain the ridiculous price I paid for it per metre! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
