hilda's hideout: Finally warming up...
http://hildashideout.blogspot.com/2015/05/finally-warming-up.html
Friday, May 29, 2015. I haven't complained about the cooler spring. Putting off the heat of summer is fine with me. The best flowers are those planted by nature, and this year the primroses are loving the cooler weather and rain. My good friend, Rosie, reminded me of the name of this delicate little flower (weed).scarlet guara. It's also having a good year. There is nothing more entertaining than watching kitties play. Now back to laundry and quilting! Friday, May 29, 2015. Of birds and apricots.

hilda's hideout: December 2014
http://hildashideout.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 22, 2014. With Dale's help I was able to finish the fobots I had started way back when. I had parked the pieces parts on a tray in the garage- the man cave, and he had put them up in the rafters. I remembered them, and yesterday afternoon we got them finished. I also finished our advent calendar. I decided we'll just keep decorating the little tree until it's done, a little charm or milagro a day and that way we'll get to enjoy it for a while. Better late than never! Eve of the Solstice.

hilda's hideout: June 2015
http://hildashideout.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Orphan blocks, of course. Crystal. Put out a call for orphan blocks on her blog. In looking for some to send her, I decided to put together a quilt from some of the orphans I've gotten. I'm not much of a piecer, but I had some blocks to send her along with more fabric squares that I had used to make the blocks. I believe they were Liberty of London fabrics that just didn't inspire me. Now back to cooking. Pat. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Tuesday, June 16, 2015. I've been busy quilting...

Sesame Squirrel: When it rains...

Thoughts on knitting, food, ceramics, and whatever other randomness crosses my mind. Formerly known as: squirrelknits). By the way, the red text/words are almost always links, and you can click on any of the blog photos for the full-sized version. For some odd reason, none of my links are underlined, so hover away. Sunday, May 15, 2011. So have I mentioned that I have cashed in vast amounts of frequent flyer miles to travel business class to Hong Kong and Shanghai for a two week vacation? And booking mys...

hilda's hideout: And three more makes a half dozen!
http://hildashideout.blogspot.com/2015/06/and-three-more-makes-half-dozen.html
Tuesday, June 16, 2015. And three more makes a half dozen! I've been busy quilting, and am getting a nice stack of quilts to deliver to Dr. Kaufman again. This first one came from Oklahoma.can't remember who.Sherry or Patty. Made this jelly roll race with batiks last summer while she was in Illinois. It came out really nice with a controlled color palette. I like it better than totally scrappy strips. This is another beauty from Tove. The batik binding I made worked for both quilts. hilda's hideout: Quilts delivered...
http://hildashideout.blogspot.com/2015/07/quilts-delivered.html
Thursday, July 02, 2015. I finished the quilt I had started from orphan blocks. We had eight quilts for Dr. Kaufman, along with my Route 66 quilt which I gave her for a raffle. I backed it with this child friendly print I had in my stash. It was from IKEA quite a while back. Today I made replacement seats and backs for our director chairs. This is also fabric from IKEA, a heavier, home decorator weight. I've been waiting for just the right occasion to use it. This quilt, Melbourne town. Of moths and such.

hilda's hideout: January 2015
http://hildashideout.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 10, 2015. Gray and freezing fog. It is so beautiful, and still, and quiet. But seriously, I've had enough of freezing fog and gray skies. Today, it looks like the sun is going to make an appearance. We didn't even take out the window blockers from our sun room windows for several days, as we would get more heat loss than gain. It, but at least it isn't shedding its bonded leather all over. Lesson learned, no more bonded leather furniture. I think the leather was paper thin.

hilda's hideout: Fiber Arts Fiesta!
http://hildashideout.blogspot.com/2015/05/fiber-arts-fiesta.html
Sunday, May 24, 2015. Pat and I attended Fiber Arts Fiesta on Friday. I had entered my summer quilt despite its developing a serious issue with bearding of the silk batting. I spent a few hours defuzzing it before taking it in for display. Thankfully it is most visible on the dark backing. On a lark, I also entered my scrappy sweatshirt in the sewing (wearable art) category. I was really surprised to see it displayed with a first prize ribbon! There were so many beautiful quilts. hilda's hideout: Of moths and such...
http://hildashideout.blogspot.com/2015/07/of-moths-and-such.html
Sunday, July 26, 2015. Of moths and such. Anyone who knows me, knows I have an irrational fear of moths (and most other insects as well). As a little girl I also used to run in the house screaming fearing butterflies. (Some story someone told me as a child about butterfly dust making you go blind, which could conceivably be true in Brazil! Dale brought me this lovely, dried little moth he found in the window of the sun room. It has an elegant name as well, Agreeable tiger moth. Sunday, July 26, 2015.
