Fly Fishing in 2014. Kev Rowley's Fishing responsibilities and exploits around the Rivers and Reservoirs. Monday, 22 September 2014. A win at last. Practice day on Lake of Menteith was overcast in the morning and then as the mist and cloud lifted the sun came out gloriously. It did put the fish down a few feet but if food was in front of them they would still take. The wind was a big factor and with a gentle breeze they were more confident to take. As the evening went on it got a little quiet and after 9 o'clock i was at the bridge and ready to head for a pint. It was back to Mike and I to arrange for this year and to make it easier we bought it to Pitsford. A great couple of days with no rain saw the Northerners (Radbroke and North East) win with a maximum 24 fish between for 48lb 12oz. Another good event - maybe we'll try the same venue next year. Firstly it was grey cloudy, overcast and very windy day at Titchwell nature reserve on the east coast today and secondly i saw my first un mistakable Grey Plover! The sun was shining well this afternoon so called in on Abington Meadows for a walk and a few photos. I was pleased that they have started to fence it off now and make it secure, hopefully using some of the money i raised. And the mayflies (Ephemera vulgata) are still around even though it is late June.
