Braaing in the Rain. May 3, 2014. Well there we were in Kerry Park overlooking the city when I noticed…there are no braais! A braai is a BBQ. It is a place, no THE place, where South Africans gather and share all things that are good in this world. Drink, food and good company. In South Africa this concept, the idea that you could have the greatest view in the entire city but could not enjoy it while searing animal flesh over fire and coal, is almost unbelievable. It made me miss home even more.
